Source: CNN

(CNN)A man entered a patient's room at a medical center in Florida early Sunday and opened fire, killing two people, authorities said.

The victims were an elderly female patient and a female hospital employee, who were sitting in the room, Titusville police Chief John Lau said.

Moments after the shots rang out, two security guards came into the room at Parrish Medical Center and took the suspect down, the police chief said.

The guards were not armed. They held the suspect down until police arrived and took him into custody.

It was the thread by Aristus about an armed man brandishing a gun, demanding pain meds at the clinic. I never felt safe at the hospital.

Step Two: Parachute Wayne LaDerrière into the middle of the roughest-looking tea bag crowd (the one w/ the most Confederate flags).

Step Three: Get someone to yell "they're stealing it from Trump!!!" on a megaphone.

Popcorn optional.

I was asked for photo ID, given a short-term photo ID badge to wear, had bags searched, and spent a lot of time being recorded by very obvious surveillance cameras.

At the time it seemed like over-kill.

2 dead in Florida hospital shooting; suspect captured

Updated 8:07 pm, Sunday, July 17, 2016

TITUSVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A gunman entered a Florida hospital through the emergency room early Sunday, went to the third floor and fatally shot a patient and an employee apparently at random, police said.

David Owens, 29, entered Parrish Medical Center at 2 a.m. and used a handgun to fatally shoot 88-year-old patient Cynthia Zingsheim and employee Carrie Rouzer, 36, who was sitting with Zingsheim in her room, Titusville police said.

Owens left the gun in the room and was tackled by two unarmed security guards as he left, police said.

"The bravery they showed was amazing," Titusville Police Chief John Lau said.
