Warren on VP chances: ‘I think if it were me, I would know it by now’

Source: Boston Globe

By Annie Linskey GLOBE STAFF JULY 22, 2016

ORLANDO – Senator Elizabeth Warren said that she hasn’t heard anything yet from the Clinton campaign about whether she’s going to be selected to be the Democrat’s vice presidential pick, a strong signal that she’s didn’t make the cut.

In the opening moments of Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show,” Colbert confronted Warren outside her “VIP” greenroom in a pre-recorded bit and asked whether she’d thought she was going to get the nod.

“Stephen, I think if it were me, I would know it by now,” Warren said. “So probably not. But look, she’s got lots of good choices and I’m excited about seeing who she’s going to pick.”

After Warren closed her dressing room door, Colbert removed the “I” from the “VIP” sign that marked her door – leaving the Massachusetts Senator in a newly fashion VP room before the show.

i am convinced we need someone with more bite than Joe Biden
and Barack Obama combined

It's not a demeanor or role that comes naturally to Democrats

But it's what's required to stand up to a bully

We need someone with a little animation, at least. Because we are at war with a reality television star.

I am going to be disappointed with a Kaine pick. I'll live with it, I'll vote for Hillary, and I'll work hard to bring other people to the polls to vote for Hillary. But I felt like Lieberman was a bad pick for Gore, and this feels like the same type of scenario to me.

I would prefer Tom Vilsack, GMO friendly and all

But you can bet Team Hillary will have the coaches and
skill sets to elevate their performance

We are not without money, skills, assets, brains

Motivating voters is the hardest part of the equation

GOTV

Ironically, we need to scare voters of the downside of Trump!

Unless there is something I don't know about Warren in her vetting, she is the only pick besides Bernie that can ignite the passion of the base of this party like no other democrat can, and we need that passion to win in this election, and more importantly to win in 4 yrs after the Republicans realize what a disaster Trump was and picks a more competent Republican. I wish there was someone in the room to remind her of what we will need 4 yrs from now to win. Because her at the top of the ticket, simply does not inspire passion in the base, and if she wins, Republicans will be passionate about beating her in 4 years.

We nominated her in the national primaries!

Independents and extremists may be a little sad, but they'll get over it.

I want to be inspired to vote for someone....not to have my back against the wall to vote against someone. Because when a lot of people feel like that, a lot of people don't show up to vote.

There are millions in the Democrat Party who are not quite happy with Hillary, but just accepting that she is our candidate and she is much better than Trump. There are millions in the Democrat Party that will be voting more against Trump than voting for Hillary, and I'm also one of them. That would change if Warren was on the ticket. You may have a point about the base, so let me clarify that statement and just say she doesn't inspire passion in the liberal wing of our party.

I admitted you have a point about the base, I hope you can also admit my point about the liberal wing of our party not being excited and passionate about Hillary as our nominee. And Warren as the VP pick would dramatically change that dynamic.

Can you please describe specifically what segment of the party is "the base" and what is it that qualifies them as being "the base"?
