Hornets co-owner irked at move of NBA All-Star game over LGBT law

Source: Agence France-Presse

Charlotte Hornets co-owner Felix Sabates is irked that the NBA is moving the 2017 All-Star Game from the North Carolina city over a state law that has caused an uproar in the gay and transgender community.
The NBA announced on Thursday it was pulling the game from Charlotte over objections to North Carolina House Bill 2, a law mandating that transgender people use public restrooms corresponding to the sex listed on their birth certificates.

Sabates criticized NBA commissioner Adam Silver for not waiting until the courts issued a ruling on HB2’s legality. He blamed the Charlotte city council for losing the game.
“What is wrong with a person using a bathroom provided for the sex they were born with?” he wrote in the letter. “If you want to change your gender so be it. We are a free county, but don’t force 8-year-old children to be exposed to having to share bathroom facilities with people that don’t share the organs they were born with.

Sabates needs to be forced out, the same way the Clippers owner was pressured to leave following his racist remarks.

Never a price to pay for basing LGBT, always a reward to be had down the pike for those who do that bashing, always. It's not like other forms of bigotry in that regard. Being an anti gay activist is a sure path success in straight America. Never a price, always a reward.

Sabates just doesn't get it and neither do a lot people... I think they're still confused about the difference between cross-dressers and trans-sexuals...

It's not that hard, folks.

Two solutions for his problem that have been used in other sports: All Hornets games are road games next year, or they play in an empty arena.

They seem mostly obsessed with the Ladies Room where everyone uses stalls anyway.

If a transgender hits the urinals in the men's room, who would bother to even look? If they still have a vagina,I bet most would use the stalls in there, although I've seen women pee standing up with amazing accuracy. I can't imagine most men turning someone like that in if they were noisy enough to witness it.

I wonder who or how someone would collect the "evidence" of such a supposed crime and I'll bet the attempted prosecution would be pretty hilarious.

this twit has no common sense, his sense and self worth is associated with his "stadium" and the greed, the same stadium that was paid for by gays, lesbians, transgender, straights, blacks, browns, yellow, and any other color associated with the human race and there tax dollars.

Green Bay on the other hand is owned by everyone in the town that has a certificate of ownership, you know like a share, a publicly owned share, the only publicly owned sports team.

So for this "dude" to whine, sell shares of the team to the city and to the same people that helped build that "stadium" if you can't,
go F****k your self and ALEC and there discriminatory legislation, which also was an attack on wages and benefits for the city of Charlotte employees--------------hypocrite, have you ever "dude" looked pass your right wing hypocrite nose and just thought one iota of putting yourself into someone else shoes, when it comes to discrimination---------I really doubt it

Professional sports teams need to stop playing in states that discriminate this way. Unrealistic, I know, but I think it needs to start being considered. Others options would be to absolutely minimize their stays in such states. Or if an offending city/state is on a border with a state that doesn't discriminate, the team stays there. Minimize spending in the offending cities/states.

National as representational of America. Some states may choose to disregard our Constitution and it is righteous of the NBA to stand with equality for all.
