PHILADELPHIA -- Continuing the theme of unity -- a motif that was very much in doubt on Monday as the convention opened -- Sanders officially ended his quest for the White House by calling to suspend the convention rules and nominate Clinton by acclaim, ensuring Clinton would be officially become the nation's first female presidential nominee.

Sanders left his VIP suite in the Wells Fargo Center and made his way to the Vermont delegation in the arena, interrupting the traditional roll call of the states, the ritual in which delegate totals for the nomination are counted.

Then, after requesting the convention chair suspend normal rules and record the vote counts, Sanders, greeted by a raucous ovation, made a dramatic announcement. "I move," he said, "that Hillary Clinton be selected the nominee for president of the United States."

The arena erupted in cheers and applause. Pharrell's "Happy" blared from the loudspeakers. Volunteers handed out signs emblazoned with Clinton's campaign logo, creating a wave of color on the arena floor. When Rep. Marcia Fudge of Ohio asked if Sanders' motion was seconded, then approved, the "Ayes" from the delegates were deafening.

All Delegates' votes were recorded beforehand.
______________

I saw this live on MSNBC and posted it here. I kept clicking the NBC News site and MSNBC site for a link, but no luck.

They would rather LITERALLY run to the handful of people on the floor that claim they will not vote for Hillary. Or alternately prop up Donald Trump.

So I give you a link from U.S. News And World Report.

Say what you want about Bernie, but he's a good man and he's motivated and inspired so many people. I think I just got emotional after the Vermont roll call.

Each group of delegates were so enthusiastic. And when Bernie nominated Hillary, the crowd was ecstatic; you could feel the elation. It was glorious.

And the 102 year old woman delegate from Arizona...had me wiping tears away. It was worth watching the casting of vote just for that.

Apparently, some people need to eat massive amounts of crow now.

Bernie cares about Americans! Bernie has revolutionized the under 30 vote for Democrats! Now, make sure it doesn't go to waste, DNC higher up! Keep them motivated by adopting parts of Bernie's platform!

When I heard that Vermont was going to go last. Otherwise it would make no sense to have Vermont put her over the top, because she got no pledged delegates there, and if they were going for unity, it would make no sense to have the pivotal votes cast by superdelegates from Bernie's home state, where he got more than 85% of the vote. The only way Vermont going last made sense was if Bernie himself was going to do it.
