Joe Biden trashes Trump in passionate DNC speech
Source: MSN/NY Daily News
PHILADELPHIA In an emotional speech that drew on his own ability to overcome incredible adversity, Vice President Biden on Wednesday passionately defended American resilience and urged voters across the country to turn their backs on Donald Trump.
"This is a complicated and uncertain world we live in. The threats are too great and the times are too uncertain to elect Donald Trump as President," Biden said during a particularly serious moment of his speech that was met with such silent respect among the otherwise excitable crowd that audience members would have been able to hear the drop of a pin.
"No nominee in history of this nation has known less or been less prepared to deal with national security
who has no plan whatsoever to make us safe," Biden railed.
"A man who seeks to sow division in America for his own gain
a man who confuses bluster with strength," he said.

The video replays so far on C-Span and elsewhere
have a blip at the climax line ... " never, never, never ....."
unintelligible, and on to the next sentence.
What are they hiding now?
The omitted portion is "never, ever, ever, ever let their country down. Never. Never."
The implication was that Trump had let his country down today with his meddling with
foreigners. Guess they don't want Americans to hear that.

(10,704 posts)The CSPAN coverage was excellent throughout.
I don't know why anyone watches these things on anything else. CSPAN - no blithering pundits; no filters; no excess focus on irrelevant minor sideshows like dead-ender Sanders' brownshirts; no crass commentary and no ads.

(5,082 posts)Hillary needs to do something unconventional that will grab peoples attention. My mother who was a wealthy Republican for decades and voted democrat the last 10 years sees no choice and will vote Green Party. The last thing on earth my mom would normally do is vote Green or Progressive. Anyone whining that it's just some loud, disaffected hippies and anarchists is blind as a bat. We need to vote for Clinton but this is a barometer of the country and smart people pay attention to such things. My mother is an establishment moderate conservative and trusts neither of the major candidates. If Trump wins plan on a military coup or revolution in the streets. If Hillary wins we will be lucky if we get the status quo but that beats chaos regardless if you feel you are being emotionally and politically blackmailed. Its a sad reality yes...one that will be addressed at some point as the truth cannot be hidden forever but now we need to vote Hillary and a win will require more than fancy conventions or commercials. Hopefully Hillary has a plan beyond the normal machinations. This race may come down to who is disaffected more and cant motivate turnout, the democrats or republicans, and whether the 3rd or 4th party peels more votes away. My biggest worry is the racists that never voted before are coming out to support Trump. Scary.

(10,704 posts)that he led the Anita Hill/ Clarence Thomas fiasco. Not such a bright and shining hour.
No-one is perfect.
But his speech was great. Nailed Trump to the wall. He's a most decent person who has also been a good partner for Obama.

He was talking directly to Trump's base, which is of the same economic and, umm, ethnic, background as Joe Biden.
