Accepting the nomination, Clinton casts herself as clear-eyed leader

Source: Reuters

U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton cast herself as the steady leader at a "moment of reckoning" for America, contrasting her character with what she described as a dangerous and volatile Donald Trump.

In the biggest speech of her quarter century in politics, Clinton on Thursday accepted the Democratic presidential nomination for the Nov. 8 election with a promise to make the United States a country that worked for everyone.

"We are clear-eyed about what our country is up against. But we are not afraid," she said.

She presented a sharply more upbeat view of the country than her rival Trump offered when Republicans nominated him last week, and even turned one of Republican hero Ronald Reagan's signature phrases against the New York real-estate developer.

"He's taken the Republican Party a long way, from 'Morning in America' to 'Midnight in America,'" Clinton said. "He wants to divide us - from the rest of the world, and from each other."

Dems brought Katy Perry, Repubs brought Chachi.

Dems brought bright ideas and inclusiveness. Repubs brought depression and exclusion.

Dems were fresh and vibrant, Repubs washed up has-beens.

RNC just didn't do their job, very similar to how thei(R) elected people haven't worked for Americans in many years.

We 'the people' would be better off today (and tomorrow) if all Republican 'governed' positions were left vacant.

9. You make a good point. The RNC seemed rushed and slapped together.

I'm sure they kept grabbing their paychecks and did nothing to earn that pay.

No one can solve the problems we face alone!

The speech was totally inclusive and very well done altogether!

11. My advice for Democrats: Label Trump as the Loose Cannon

Trump will continue to characterize Hillary as Crooked Hillary. Crooked Hillary versus the Bully or the Mean Guy is unlikely to be successful for Hillary. But, in my opinion, Crooked Hillary versus the Loose Cannon tilts the contest toward Hillary. Crooked can be debated, but every time Trump opens his mouth, most of his history, everything validates the label of Loose Cannon. And, a Loose Cannon is someone who is scary and dangerous.
