Boehner: House will go ahead with contempt vote

Source: strib

Speaker John Boehner says the House will move forward with a contempt of Congress vote Thursday against Attorney General Eric Holder over the botched gun-tracking operation known as Fast and Furious. The White House said Republicans are seeking to score political points.

The Ohio Republican told reporters Wednesday that last-minute talks with the White House about releasing documents had failed to avert the vote. President Barack Obama has asserted executive privilege to keep the documents secret, but Republicans say there's no basis for that.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said Wednesday that the public would view the vote as "political theater" and "gamesmanship."

The issue has political implications this election year. The National Rifle Association is keeping score, prompting some Democrats to join Republicans in voting for contempt. Such a citation would not cause the release of more documents on the operation, in which guns were allowed to "walk" from Arizona to Mexico in hopes they could be tracked.

This is how you do it. The next time you get a majority, make sure to screen out the Liebermans from leadership positions.

I hate to say it, but it's up to the pundits like Chris Matthews to make points for the Democrats.

But it's also just one more thing to confuse the undecideds as the Republican minions sell the idea that Obama is the most corrupt president ever. Yeah, I already heard that one from a close friend. When I asked her for details her comment was, "Well, it's something you're passionate about." As if she didn't have the time to go deeper than a cocktail conversation.

the american people by doing something like casting a vote that would help to create jobs especially after they made it clear years ago that their only goal was to see that Obama was a one term president and a good economy wont help them achieve that goal.

Makes me think, if people don't WAKE UP..... They may eventually have it better in Egypt, than WE DO. Think about that.
IN EGYPT, THEY HAVE AT LEAST DONE SOMETHING ABOUT THEIR PROBLEM. NOW WE NEED TO HELP THEM AND CLEAN OUR OWN HOUSE. PERIOD.

DON'T YOU PEOPLE SEE THIS? HOW CAN YOU NOT?

IT IS PLAIN AS DAY TO ME.

ALL OF YOU, EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON THIS BOARD, NEEDS TO WATCH PRESIDENT OBAMA'S CAIRO SPEECH, AGAIN, AND OVER AGAIN AND OVER AND OVER...... THEN YOU WILL UNDERSTAND...HE UNDERSTANDS, WHY DONT YOU?

including the Fortune article, I had, for one tiny second, thought the speaker would perhaps look at this again and put off the vote.

Yeah, I know, this is the jerk who slapped the president's hand every time he reached out...but.

So, in my opinion, there is one reason for it. As many as 30 yellow(I will never again use the word blue) dogs voting with them. The 'along party lines' argument becomes moot. Any dino vote is a vote for Romney. I am disgusted.
