Slight bump for Clinton in battleground states following convention
Source: The Hill
Hillary Clinton saw a small bump in support following the Democratic National Convention last week, a poll released Sunday shows.
The CBS News Battleground Tracker Poll found Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, has 43 percent support in 11 battleground states, while GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has 41 percent support.
In the same poll last week, Trump led Clinton 42 percent to 41 percent.
Clinton's gains came from Democrats who had been undecided before the convention. Virtually no one is going back and forth between Trump and Clinton.

It is still very close and it seems like the more stupid things Trump says, the better he does. For example, saying that Russia will never invade the Ukraine.

Better than expected bump.

(2,208 posts)I have pointed this out repeatedly myself. It must be that his name gets mentioned SO MUCH every time he says something stupid that his base just hears TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP and gets mobilized.
Sadly, perhaps his form of bigotry is more popular than we would like to think. He can insult a dead war hero as long as the dead war hero was a Muslim it seems.

(17,390 posts)Trump is a sexist, racist, antisemitic, anti-muslim bigot. However, by pushing the meme that "political correctness" is killing this country, Trump's hate is spun as honesty. Thus, the more hate that Trump spews, the more points he gets for being honest.

(11,646 posts)I think that's the key qualification. If they are still in Trump's column after all the stupid and offensive shit he's said to this point, then they are stupid themselves and incapable of being offended. But I have to thing that with each huge gaffe, his ceiling falls a little lower.

(21,754 posts)Everyone hates a traitor and it gets more obvious every day. Today he was defended g Russian a against Obama. And it was totally based on his own ignorance. Even Trumpophiles are going to start seeing through this

(17,390 posts)...it is out-of-the-box thinking to walk away from NATO and reach out to Russian help against a campaign rival. Plus, it is consistent with his strong man persona to emulate dictators, rather than push diplomacy. Likewise, endorsing torture, which the establishment condemns, is also new thinking. Who needs the Geneva conventions?
