'Pinky' dancing flamingo dies after attack by Orlando man at Busch Gardens
Source: Orlando Sentinel
A dancing flamingo named Pinky had to be euthanized Tuesday after an Orlando man allegedly attacked her at Busch Gardens in Tampa, according to police.
Joseph Anthony Corrao, 45, was at the park with his family in the Jambo Junction Animal Viewing area when he reached into the animal pen, grabbed the flamingo and threw Pinky to the ground, according to Tampa police.
Pinky was taken to the animal care center, but had to be euthanized because of the severity of her injuries, Busch Gardens said in a statement.

Apparently he may have driven there drunk, then staggered around until he could mutilate and terrorize Pinky.
so we are eagerly awaiting Corrao's claim that he was merely "standing his ground"...

According to the Florida Department of Corrections, Corrao served two years in prison for willfully fleeing and eluding law enforcement, driving under the influence, third conviction and aggravated assault of a person 65 years or older charges out of Columbia County in north Florida . He was released last year.

I have no tolerance for people who abuse and kill animals. This does not include hunting or self defense.

This is so sad and pointless. What must his family life be like? Maybe Pinky's sacrifice will mean that his children will be kept safe from him; this isn't his first violent act.

(18,870 posts)Visitors at a park killed a peacock by grabbing it and pulling out it's tail feathers. The bird went into shock and died .
And last week a mountain goat died when it jumped into water to get away from tourists and the curious people didn't give it a chance to get back out of the water.
There really do need to be really good fences to protect the animals.
