Mainers defend Somali neighbors against Trump

On Thursday, the real estate tycoon told supporters that “we’ve just seen many, many crimes getting worse all the time, and as Maine knows — a major destination for Somali refugees — right, am I right?”
“Well, they’re all talking about it,” he continued. “Maine. Somali refugees. We admit hundreds of thousands — you admit, into Maine, and to other places in the United States — hundreds of thousands of refugees.”
In Lewiston, where an estimated 7,000 Somalis live, police said Friday that crime is going down, not up.

Trump, was implying that Maine cities are seeing increased crime because of Somalis. I live in Lewiston. The Somalis are good people. They have businesses, work here, their kids go to school here. They do not cause trouble and commit crimes as Trump implies. Local crimes are almost always committed by non-Somalis and as noted in the article, the crime rate is going down (it was pretty low before too).
I did some canvassing for Hillary today and everyone I talked to was Somali with the exception of one white woman. Everyone was a strong Hillary supporter. The Somalis don't like Trump tarnishing their image in Maine. They have worked hard to gain respect from other Mainers and they want to be known as good people that belong here and don't cause trouble.

He goes to Maine, he insults Somalis, more backlash ensues. The list of his "gaffes" is so long, I'm losing track.
