Obama warns Dems: We should be ‘running scared’ until after Clinton wins election

Declaring he was tired of talking about Donald Trump, President Barack Obama urged Democrats on Monday not to grow too confident about their prospects in the 2016 election despite Hillary Clintons strong position in the race for the White House.
Obama, who is on a two-week vacation in Marthas Vineyard, an island off the coast of Massachusetts, took a short break from his relaxation time to raise money for Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee he hopes will succeed him when he leaves office in January.
Clinton leads Trump in opinion polls, and the Republican nominees campaign has suffered following remarks he made denigrating the parents of a fallen Muslim American soldier and charging that Obama was the founder of the Islamic State militant group.
The president warned his party, however, to maintain a sense of urgency until the Nov. 8 election. If we are not running scared until the day after the election, we are going to be making a grave mistake, Obama told some 60 donors who contributed $10,000 each to attend the fundraiser at a private home on the island.

Trump campaign could continue this path, or they could exert
sudden burst of competence in October, wait for rising and
falling voter sentiment, or opportunity or doubts.
Complacency or overconfidence would not be wise.

(2,654 posts)We are dealing with very despicable and devious forces beyond the tRump campaign. We can't, with any certainty, see what will unfold in the weeks ahead. There are unrevealed plans afoot right now, that we can only hope the Clinton campaign can counter with the truth. There will be multiple attempts at smearing her and the media will jump on any accusations as truth until repeatedly disproved. We cannot count on tRump not to wise up and merely keep his mouth shut unless reading from the teleprompter. World event can turn it all upside down in a moment.Forget about August poll celebrations, the polls reflect a fickle public that will turn at the drop of a hat. Tomorrows headline could be devastating but on the brighter side, I would rather be ahead in August than being where the asswipe is right now.

If the President and the Dems in Congress push the TPP through
during the lame duck session, one can rest assured that the
voters will not forget - remember the huge Dem losses after
Clinton signed NAFTA.

The roster includes six conservative governors Terry Branstad (Iowa), Sam Brownback (Kan.), Pete Ricketts (Neb.), Mary Fallin (Okla.), Dennis Daugaard (S.D.), and Jack Dalrymple (N.D.) as well as 2016 GOP primary rivals Rick Perry and Jim Gilmore. "

Fairness for all countries and people needs to be a bedrock principle.
But as of now, it is not . .
The reality is that NAFTA has been awful for working people
in ALL THREE COUNTRIES. Mexicans and Canadians hate it just
as much as we do.
Americans miss that point all the time; and it drives me nuts.
This shows very considerable Canadian opposition to NAFTA ..
