Donald Trump cancels Portland (OR) campaign stop
Source: KOMO News
PORTLAND, Ore. Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump has canceled his Portland campaign stop, which was scheduled for Aug. 31.
Trump's Northwest regional campaign chair Don Benton confirms to KATU News that the Republican candidate will still hold events in Seattle on Aug. 31, but will then immediately move on to battleground states.
Benton says Trump intends to visit Oregon sometime during the election, and remains "committed to the Northwest."
No date is set for an Oregon visit.

It is in the county away from Bellingham. Almost any where away from the cities in NW Washington is full of right wing nuts..
Still 97% HRC
and I laugh at the rednecks.

(15,657 posts)Lots of signs, some Huuuge signs. Bellingham was solid Bernie territory. Nary a Hillary sign to be on my last trip down a couple weeks ago (I live in BC).

(5,376 posts)And has been for a half century or so. As our awesome governor Tom McCall said, "Visit but don't stay." To Donald, I'm sure Tom would say, "Don't even bother to visit." Tom was a Republican, one of the great ones who loved Oregon more than life. I live a mile or so from where he's laid to rest, and I swear I feel him turning over in his grave whenever Trump's name is mentioned.
Best wishes to friends and family in the beautiful state of Washington. Stay strong!

(3,205 posts)...he was a great environmentalist and an all around good governor. They don't make republicans like him anymore.
I Settled in Seattle when I got out of the Marines. Still here 47 years later.

(5,376 posts)You are absolutely right--they don't make 'em like him anymore, but the legacy he left us is priceless. One of his most significant is the Beach Bill, which preserved our coast for public access and will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its passage next year. One of many, many reasons why I love my adopted state of Oregon.
Coincidentally, I was living in Seattle when I met my Native Oregonian spouse, and we soon relocated to Oregon. That was 48 years ago. I do like Seattle and have lotsa good memories of my years in that beautiful city.
Cheers!

(126 posts)I envision lots of protest mayhem. Yay!
He may get folks coming in from other counties, but I fully expect Seattleites to shut his ass down.
Meh, he'll cancel this too, or go to Eastern WA, where the population is drastically less.

(6,335 posts)The PNW rural RWers hate the city liberals and so the protests would probably rile them up even more for Trump.

(3,014 posts)Where there were about a dozen Trump supporters marching. It was kind of weird that the moms for sensible gun control came right after and about 50 Clinton supporters were a little ahead - they seemed so out of place. My daughter was handing water out to those in the parade and handed to one of them who said "I would have paid for it." May have been a totally innocent remark but kind of weird nonetheless.
