Trump campaign manager no longer wants him to release his tax returns

Source: Washington Post

Donald Trump's campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, said Sunday morning that she does not want the Republican presidential nominee to release his tax returns until an audit by the Internal Revenue Service is completed, abandoning a position that she took five months ago, when she didn't work for the campaign and urged Trump to "be transparent" and release the filings.

"I've learned since being on the inside that this audit is a serious matter and that he has said that when the audit is complete, he will release his tax returns," Conway said during an interview on ABC's "This Week" that aired Sunday morning. "I also know as a pollster that what concerns people most about quote 'taxes' is their own tax liability, and so we appreciate people being able to see Hillary Clinton's plan and Donald Trump's plan and figure out who will really get the middle-class tax relief."

According to Trump's attorneys, his tax returns filed since 2009 are under audit but those from 2002 to 2008 are no longer under audit. Conway said Sunday in an interview on CNN that she does not want Trump to release those returns, either.

Trump is the first major presidential nominee from either party since 1976 to not release tax returns. Last summer, Clinton released returns from 2007 to 2014, and her campaign shared her 2015 return this month, as well as 10 years of returns from her running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia. Trump's running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, has said that he plans to release his tax returns, with a spokesman telling CNN that this would happen before the election.

the Commissioner of the IRS has said that the audit would in no way prevent anyone from releasing their tax returns. Your tax returns are yours and you can release them or not whenever you see fit. Just like your medical records. Doctors can't release them, but you can. And it wouldn't matter if you were suing the Doctor, he was suing you, or anything else.

And no one is questioning this? No followup from the reporter?

If this was the case, what prevents him from paying any income taxes those years.

Obviously, he has something to hide.

Add to that the fact that tRump is being audited for the past 6 years and we get the idea that he's hiding A LOT. So far I haven't heard any 'reporter' asking the tough questions like that.

he is deeply involved with Manafort and has great ties with Putin. He could release his tax returns and prove he does not have anything to hide. Maybe we could get the Russians to hack his information and WikiLeaks could disclose it.

Kelllyanne is just mouthing the BS. I suspect there is some revealing info in a return that would destroy a lot of the claims he's made.

At this link, the NYT reviews the results of their investigation into The Trump Empire" Financial Maze.

Far as I can tell, there's been a tremendous effort to muddy the waters and make it almost impossible for anyone to unravel the "real Trump".

He doesn't want to release anything to shed light on his tax returns, or that may show a pattern of conduct, because he does not want to incriminate himself. In other words, he's refusing to release his tax returns because he is pleading the 5th.

Granted, it's not a guarantee of transparency; candidates, after all, may still hide large offshore accounts in the Caymans and such (Paul "vulture" Singer's NML is believed to be a top repository of lawmakers' undeclared loot).

Still, it would create a legal framework for the release of such records - rather than a "tradition" to compels them to do so for fear of taking a hit in their poll numbers.

"n addition to her polling work, Conway was the president of Keep the Promise I, one of a constellation of super PACs that supported Cruz's presidential campaign. "

"It was also through Keep the Promise that she worked with megadonor Robert Mercer, a hedge fund chief who donated $11 million to fund Keep the Promise 1.
Mercer has now switched his allegiance to Trump. His daughter, Rebekah, expressed frustration to Trump over the weekend at a fundraiser about the direction of his campaign and him being restricted by advisers, sources told CNN. Trump's own increasing frustration led to his recruitment of Conway, the sources said.
Conway is well-connected in ideologically right conservative circles, and has ties to the Koch brothers' influential donor network. The Kochs, however, have refused to support Trump. "

http://www.cnn.com/shows/reliable-sources

I do not care what the Koch brothers have said in print or an interview ..... Without looking further there is Pence , Conway
and Lewandowski connected with Koch brothers somehow , I wonder who else ............

"Before becoming the controversial campaign manager of Donald Trump's presidential bid, Corey Lewandowski oversaw the New Hampshire chapter of Americans for Prosperity, the advocacy group founded by the Koch brothers"

the possibility of forcing Trump, and any future one of that inclination, to release their tax returns. He apparently wants to make it a requirement of running for the Presidency. The American people should not be deprived of their right to know he so correctly argues.
