Trump to stump in Philly on Friday for African American votes

Source: Philadelphia Daily News/Inquirer

Gov. Christie wasn't kidding when he told Republicans in Philadelphia on Sunday that their nominee for president, Donald Trump, would soon pay a visit.

Trump will visit Philadelphia on Friday afternoon for a private meeting with African American voters at a North Broad Street catering hall operated by a nonprofit controlled by the Greater Exodus Baptist Church. Trump's campaign declined to comment, but the visit was confirmed by two congressional candidates - both African American - who were invited to the event by the Republican State Committee.

Greater Exodus is headed by the Rev. Herb Lusk II, a onetime Eagles running back and a prominent conservative who twice hosted visits there by President George W. Bush, and who spoke at the 2000 Republican National Convention in Philadelphia.

<...>

Christie, speaking at the Republican City Committee's annual fund-raiser in Northeast Philadelphia on Sunday, said the local party could help Trump to victory in Pennsylvania if it "just does a little bit to cut into the margin here."

This was on the news this morning here. Christie needs to get the hell over on his side of the river.

We don't need this bullshit here and the GOP is NOT going to win PA. Bet on it.

There is a small cadre of sometimes vocal, old-school black republicans here in the city and they generally stay in the background because they are overwhelmingly outnumbered by the black democratic power structure here. But I expect that staged events like this allow them to bubble up out of the cesspool of their lunatic party every once in awhile. The city became Democratic in 1952 with the inauguration of Democrat Joe Clark (as my mother oft-mentioned to me) after almost 7 decades of GOP rule. And this city has elected Democrats for mayor for over 60 years since.

I truly don't get it.

By the way, the Rev. Lusk is not sanctioning the event, he's not a Teump supporter.

Alan Keyes Says He is Willing to Stand in For Donald Trump

By Blake Edwards

Black Republican Alan Keyes has offered himself as an alternative to GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump. According to the Conservative Chronicle, Keyes said he would be willing to step in for Trump, who is proving to be a controversial choice. Several Republicans, including former Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson, have said they would rather vote for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton than Trump.

“I’m a true, died-in-the wool conservative,” said Keyes. “Trump is a Johnny Come Lately to the conservative movement.”

Keyes was critical of Trump and Jerry Falwell Jr., one of several Evangelicals who are supporting him, in a Daily Caller op ed.

“In this separation of God from politics people like Gallups and Jerry Falwell, Jr. tacitly accept the false notion of ‘separation of Church and state’ that presently bedevils our nation’s public life,” said Keyes. “Now the GOP is poised to nominate a candidate whose life could be used to illustrate the deceitfully seductive quality of sin summarized in the phrase ‘the glamour of evil.'”

for awhile now on the bridges - at least on the Ben Franklin Bridge into Camden, NJ the Walt Whitman Bridge into Gloucester City, NJ., and the Betsy Ross Bridge into Pennsauken, NJ. I think the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge is good though (although it is a drawbridge and can stop up traffic at any time if a ship is going up or down the river).

You got Fluffians fleeing to the shore but only for a brief time because we might also get some impact from Hurricane (now Tropical Storm) Hermine by Sunday and the shore most likely will get the bulk, so they need to go and come back quick (Philly is about 60 miles from AC).

Christie better get his ass back there because his coastline is going to be impacted.

I'm hiding.

SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------

HERMINE MADE LANDFALL IN FLORIDA LAST NIGHT AND HAS WEAKENED. AS A RESULT,
IT HAS BEEN DOWNGRADED TO A TROPICAL STORM. HERMINE IS EXPECTED TO MOVE
NORTHEASTWARD INTO THE CAROLINAS ON SATURDAY AND OFF THE MID-ATLANTIC COAST
SATURDAY NIGHT. THE STORM IS THEN EXPECTED TO STALL OFF THE COAST SUNDAY AND
MONDAY BEFORE GRADUALLY MOVING AWAY FROM THE AREA DURING THE MIDDLE
OF NEXT WEEK.

A TROPICAL STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR PORTIONS OF THE MID-
ATLANTIC COAST INCLUDING SOUTHERN DELAWARE AND COASTAL NEW JERSEY FROM
CAPE MAY TO SANDY HOOK. THIS WATCH ALSO INCLUDES COASTAL WATERS AND
THE LOWER DELAWARE BAY. SUSTAINED TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS ARE
POSSIBLE OVER IMMEDIATE COASTAL AREAS INCLUDING COASTAL WATERS AND
TOWARD THE LOWER DELAWARE BAY. SOME TROPICAL STORM FORCE GUSTS ARE
POSSIBLE FARTHER INLAND.

HAZARDOUS SEAS AND DANGEROUSLY ROUGH SURF CAN BE EXPECTED
THROUGHOUT THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND AND POSSIBLY INTO THE MIDDLE OF NEXT
WEEK. A MODERATE TO HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK CAN BE EXPECTED AT THE
BEACHES DURING THIS TIME.

MINOR TO MODERATE COASTAL FLOODING IS POSSIBLE AROUND THE TIMES OF
HIGH TIDE FROM LATE SATURDAY ONWARD. SOME LOCALIZED MAJOR COASTAL
FLOODING CAN NOT BE RULED OUT, ESPECIALLY IN THE BACK BAYS WHERE
WATER ACCUMULATES WITH EACH SUCCESSIVE HIGH TIDE. THE MAGNITUDE OF
THE COASTAL FLOODING WILL ULTIMATELY DEPEND ON THE PATH AND
STRENGTH OF THE STORM. THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR MORE THAN 2 INCHES
OF RAINFALL. SOME AREAS NEAR THE COAST IN DELAWARE AND SOUTHERN NEW
JERSEY MAY RECEIVE 4 TO 6 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS,
WHICH COULD LEAD TO FLOODING.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS
-----------------

* WIND:
PREPARE FOR HAZARDOUS WIND HAVING POSSIBLE LIMITED IMPACTS ACROSS NEW
JERSEY...DELAWARE...SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA AND NORTHEAST
MARYLAND.. POTENTIAL IMPACTS INCLUDE:
- DAMAGE TO PORCHES, AWNINGS, CARPORTS, SHEDS, AND UNANCHORED
MOBILE HOMES IS POSSIBLE. UNSECURED LIGHTWEIGHT OBJECTS COULD
BE BLOWN AROUND.
- MANY LARGE TREE LIMBS MAY BE BROKEN OFF. A FEW TREES COULD BE
SNAPPED OR UPROOTED. SOME FENCES AND ROADWAY SIGNS MAY BE BLOWN
OVER.
- A FEW ROADS COULD BE IMPASSABLE FROM DEBRIS. HAZARDOUS DRIVING
CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE ON BRIDGES AND OTHER ELEVATED ROADWAYS.
- SCATTERED POWER AND COMMUNICATIONS OUTAGES ARE POSSIBLE.

* SURGE:
PREPARE FOR LOCALLY HAZARDOUS SURGE HAVING POSSIBLE LIMITED IMPACTS
ACROSS COASTAL LOCATIONS OR AREAS PRONE TO TIDAL FLOODING, INCLUDING
THE BACK BAYS. POTENTIAL IMPACTS IN THIS AREA INCLUDE:
- LOCALIZED INUNDATION IS POSSIBLE WITH STORM SURGE FLOODING
MAINLY ALONG IMMEDIATE SHORELINES AND IN LOW-LYING SPOTS, OR IN
AREAS FARTHER INLAND NEAR WHERE HIGHER SURGE WATERS MOVE ASHORE.
- SECTIONS OF NEAR-SHORE ROADS AND PARKING LOTS COULD BECOME
OVERSPREAD WITH SURGE WATER. DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE
POSSIBLE IN PLACES WHERE SURGE WATER COVERS THE ROAD.
- MODERATE BEACH EROSION IS EXPECTED. HEAVY SURF ALSO BREACHING
DUNES, MAINLY IN USUALLY VULNERABLE LOCATIONS. STRONG RIP
CURRENTS ARE ANTICIPATED.
- MINOR TO LOCALLY MODERATE DAMAGE TO MARINAS, DOCKS, BOARDWALKS,
AND PIERS IS POSSIBLE. A FEW SMALL CRAFT MAY BE BROKEN AWAY
FROM MOORINGS.

THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR TIDAL FLOODING FARTHER UP THE DELAWARE
BAY AND DELAWARE RIVER. SEEMINGLY MINOR SHIFTS TO THE STORM TRACK
COULD LEAD TO CONSIDERABLE CHANGES TO THE COASTAL FLOODING
POTENTIAL. ELSEWHERE ACROSS NEW JERSEY...DELAWARE...SOUTHEASTERN
PENNSYLVANIA AND NORTHEAST MARYLAND., LITTLE TO NO IMPACT IS
ANTICIPATED.

* FLOODING RAIN:
PREPARE FOR LOCALLY HAZARDOUS RAINFALL FLOODING HAVING POSSIBLE
LIMITED IMPACTS ACROSS THE COASTAL PLAIN. POTENTIAL
IMPACTS INCLUDE:
- LOCALIZED RAINFALL FLOODING MAY PROMPT A FEW EVACUATIONS.
- RIVERS AND TRIBUTARIES MAY QUICKLY RISE WITH SWIFTER CURRENTS.
SMALL STREAMS, CREEKS, CANALS, AND DITCHES MAY BECOME SWOLLEN
AND OVERFLOW IN SPOTS.
- FLOOD WATERS CAN ENTER A FEW STRUCTURES, ESPECIALLY IN
VULNERABLE SPOTS. RAPID PONDING OF WATER MAY OCCUR AT
UNDERPASSES, LOW-LYING SPOTS, AND POOR DRAINAGE AREAS. SEVERAL
STORM DRAINS AND RETENTION PONDS BECOME NEAR-FULL AND BEGIN TO
OVERFLOW. SOME BRIEF ROAD AND BRIDGE CLOSURES ARE POSSIBLE.

ELSEWHERE ACROSS NEW JERSEY...DELAWARE...SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA
AND NORTHEAST MARYLAND., LITTLE TO NO IMPACT IS ANTICIPATED.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
----------------------------------

* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:
NOW IS THE TIME TO CHECK YOUR EMERGENCY PLAN AND TAKE NECESSARY
ACTIONS TO SECURE YOUR HOME OR BUSINESS. DELIBERATE EFFORTS SHOULD BE
UNDERWAY TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY. ENSURE THAT YOUR EMERGENCY
SUPPLIES KIT IS STOCKED AND READY.

WHEN MAKING SAFETY AND PREPAREDNESS DECISIONS, DO NOT FOCUS ON THE
EXACT FORECAST TRACK AS THERE ARE INHERENT FORECAST UNCERTAINTIES
WHICH MUST BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT.

IF YOU LIVE IN A PLACE PARTICULARLY VULNERABLE TO FLOODING, SUCH AS
NEAR THE OCEAN, IN A LOW LYING OR POOR DRAINAGE AREA, IN A VALLEY, OR
NEAR AN ALREADY SWOLLEN RIVER, PLAN TO MOVE TO SAFE SHELTER ON HIGHER
GROUND

ALWAYS HEED THE ADVICE OF LOCAL OFFICIALS AND COMPLY WITH ANY ORDERS
THAT ARE ISSUED. DO NOT NEEDLESSLY JEOPARDIZE YOUR LIFE OR THE LIVES
OF OTHERS.

WHEN SECURING YOUR PROPERTY, OUTSIDE PREPARATIONS SHOULD BE CONDUCTED
AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BEFORE CONDITIONS DETERIORATE. THE ONSET OF
STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND HEAVY RAIN CAN CAUSE CERTAIN PREPAREDNESS
ACTIVITIES TO BECOME UNSAFE.

BE SURE TO LET FRIENDS AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS KNOW OF YOUR
INTENTIONS AND WHEREABOUTS FOR SURVIVING THE STORM. FOR EMERGENCY
PURPOSES, HAVE SOMEONE LOCATED AWAY FROM THE THREATENED AREA SERVE AS
YOUR POINT OF CONTACT. SHARE VITAL CONTACT INFORMATION WITH OTHERS.
KEEP CELL PHONES HANDY AND WELL CHARGED.

VISITORS TO THE AREA SHOULD BECOME FAMILIAR WITH NEARBY SURROUNDINGS.
IF YOU ARE A VISITOR, KNOW THE NAME OF THE COUNTY IN WHICH YOU ARE
LOCATED AND WHERE IT IS RELATIVE TO CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS. IF
STAYING AT A HOTEL, ASK THE MANAGEMENT STAFF ABOUT THEIR ONSITE
DISASTER PLAN. LISTEN FOR EVACUATION ORDERS, ESPECIALLY PERTAINING TO
AREA VISITORS.

CLOSELY MONITOR NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR OTHER LOCAL NEWS OUTLETS FOR
OFFICIAL STORM INFORMATION. LISTEN FOR POSSIBLE CHANGES TO THE
FORECAST.

Black Lives Matter: We’re Organizing a Massive Protest for Trump’s Philly Visit

A Black Lives Matter leader says the group is planning to hold a yuuuge protest outside of a Donald Trump event in Philadelphia on Friday.Asa Khalif, the head of the Pennsylvania chapter of Black Lives Matter, says he is working within his own organization as well as with other activists to stage the “mass” march. “We are strategizing as we speak,” he says. “Trump has pissed off a lot of people, and groups that don’t usually work together are working together. We’re going to stand in solidarity to pretty much give Trump the middle finger.”

Trump is reportedly expecting to meet privately with African-American leaders tomorrow at Greater Exodus Baptist Church’s banquet hall on North Broad Street. Trump’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment, but two Republican Congressional candidates from Philly confirmed that they were asked to attend.

Reverend Herb Lusk, the pastor of Greater Exodus, says he was not invited to the event and has “nothing to do with this.”

As a note, the city is getting ready for the annual "Made in America" concert that is put on by Jay-Z with a variety of music genres performing over 2-days of the weekend leading up to Labor Day. The headliners are Rihanna and Cold Play (plus Lil Wayne was scheduled), and it is already insane downtown with the prep for that. Expect there to be a lot of political commentary from the performers!

There were precincts in Philly which had ZERO votes for Romney! What makes Trump think he can do any better?

He will just tie up traffic and inconvenience people who are all trying to enjoy the long weekend.

NOBODY. CARES. FOR. HIM. IN. PHILADELPHIA.

(Except some white trash in the NE or Mayfair sections, maybe).
