Trump Held Fundraiser For Pam Bondi At Mar-a-Lago After She Dropped Investigation

The Republican Party of Florida paid much less for the venue than Trump’s own campaign has paid.

09/06/2016 10:30 pm ET | Updated 5 minutes ago

WASHINGTON ― In March 2014, Donald Trump opened his 126-room Palm Beach resort, Mar-a-Lago, for a $3,000-per-person fundraiser for Pam Bondi, the Florida attorney general who had recently decided not to investigate Trump University and was facing a tough re-election campaign.

Trump, whose personal foundation had given $25,000 to a pro-Bondi group the previous fall, did not write a check to the attorney general that night. But by hosting her at Mar-a-Lago and bringing in some of his own high-profile Florida contacts, he provided her campaign with a nice financial boost.

Trump has claimed that Bondi was merely a candidate he knew well and supported politically. But his fundraising efforts were extensive: In addition to the $25,000 donation, Trump and his daughter Ivanka gave $500 each to Bondi in the fall of 2013. The following year, Ivanka and her father donated a total of $125,000 to the Republican Party of Florida.

All this monetary effort could suggest that Donald Trump was thanking Bondi for not probing his failed seminar program. His efforts to boost her politically came during and after a period when she was being publicly pressed to investigate claims that get-rich-quick seminars bearing his name were defrauding participants.

One of the news programs had a clip of him saying that, followed by a picture of the two of them together.

Trump dismisses questions about improper gift to Florida attorney general

Donald Trump on Monday dismissed questions about his failure to disclose an improper $25,000 contribution in 2013 .... The donation, made by the Donald J. Trump Foundation, violated federal rules that prohibit charities from donating to political candidates. Trump and his team also failed to disclose the gift to the Internal Revenue Service, instead reporting that the donation was given to an unrelated group with a similar name — effectively obscuring the contribution.

.... Bondi spoke with Trump and solicited the donation herself. ....

Trump Camp Walks Back His Claim That He 'Never' Spoke With FL AG Pam Bondi

The Donald Trump campaign Tuesday walked back remarks the GOP nominee made Monday denying any communications with Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi before his 2013 donation in support of her campaign.

According to Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks, when Trump told reporters he "never" spoke to Bondi about "it," he meant that he never spoke to her about Trump University, which Bondi was considering suing at the time of the contribution.

“His comments were in reference to any discussion about Trump University — not the donation,” Hicks told Politico.

In a separate AP report Tuesday, Hicks was unable to elaborate on the content of their conversation.

"I don't think this was a lengthy, memorable call," Hicks said. .........

Mrs. Greenspan will probably not even go near this story, because she's too busy still questioning Hillary Clinton's honesty and trustworthiness

The other parts of the so-called Liberal media will not really go near this because they mostly have jobs following the alleged money trail of the CGI and to follow the non-existent email scandal.

It only LOOKS exactly like pay-to-play. And Don didn't mean whatever he said. We have learned that he's always just being sarcastic, or we misunderstood, or whatever he said doesn't mean what he meant or anything else.

to Trump's bulls**t on his ISIS plan, why Clinton's private server was worse than Watergate, how he's going to say the magic words and shootings will stop in black communities, etc.
They covered Hillary with a 20 second clip of a reporter rolling an orange with a question written on it down the aisle of her plane. Stupid, "who would you rather have dinner with? Trump? Putin?"

A police officer can lock you away for the slightest infringement of a drug law, but a corrupt politician is nearly immune to arrest unless someone wishes to destroy their career.

Or more precisely - Trump is innocent after being proved guilty.

Time and time again, the M$M refuses to report negatively when it comes to Donald Trump. They have lost any sense of objectivity they may have ever had. Their bias is not only obvious, it also interferes with the democratic process.
