Hillary Clinton on Tuesday strongly condemned Philippine President Rodrigo Dutertes now-infamous son of a b comment directed at President Obama, saying that the White House made the right call in canceling their meeting.
When the president of the Philippines insulted our president, it was appropriate in a very low-key way to say: sorry, no meeting, the Democratic presidential nominee told reporters after the incident, according to Reuters.
We have a lot of ties between the United States and the Philippines. And I think its very important that we have a relationship, Clinton added. But there has to be a certain level of respect that is expected on both sides...................................

Good for Hillary. She is letting it be known that she will not take that vile crap either.

civilized poltical discourse here, all without getting involved.
If Trump pulls a "crooked Hillary" in the debates, he may get swatted
with a line like this one, and given his crude campaign it's the last thing
he needs.

(10,252 posts)It was the American army that liberated the Phillipines from both the Spanish and the Japanese empires. But Deterte has already shown us how much he respects others by murdering thousands of people. I'm not worried that Trump will pull the "crooked Hilary" bit in the debates. I'm sure that she'll have some great zingers and retorts to Trump's bullying.

(1 post)I'm pro-Allies and pro-HRC, but you cannot flaunt that the Philippines was liberated from the Spanish in my face. Simply don't go there. If you still want to, you can start googling for the Balanggiga massacre.

(18,124 posts)citizen yesterday from airport/my area and asked point blank, "do you agree with how you leader is dealing with the drug problems in your country"? He immediately and affirmatively said, "YES". He said one of the major problems were the chinese meth labs. He said they come from mainland china because the chinese will cut their heads off if caught. So they came to his country because the laws were not so absolute until this crackdown. He said there was a big meth addiction problem. I left it alone. Young man, 20ish

They also say that women are being forced into doing some of this murdering because they can get close to the "criminals" and that they're told that if they don't their families will be killed.

(18,124 posts)went overboard with his disrespect of an accomplished world leader. And no doubt many innocent people are dying in their "drug war", just look at american casualties since our "war on drugs" began. Yet I can't help but feel that in spite of your probable truths, this individual I conversed with was telling some truth also.
