TMZ caught up with Sen. Ted Cruz as he was disembarking from Reagan National Airport to hear his thoughts on the recent flap over Colin Kaepernick.
The onetime presidential candidate was predictably peeved at the insolence of rich, spoiled athletes like Kaepernick who stirred up controversy by refusing to rise for the national anthem in order to protest police brutality.
People like Kaepernick didnt recognize what an incredible blessing this country is, Cruz said, adding that it was very easy to disrespect this country when youre sitting there, rolling in millions of dollars.
Cruz also took shots at the president, who had voiced his support for the embattled 49er, saying he had been exercising his right to free to speech.Thats not the job of the president., Cruz said. The president should be standing up for America, and the president should be encouraging every American to honor the flag that so many Americans have bled and died for and to honor the freedom that it stands for.

(16,079 posts)Many Americans have bled and died, but it wasn't for a fucking piece of cloth, it wasn't for a fucking song written in the 19th Century either!!!
They died because men like Cruz couldn't settle their differences, without sending others to their deaths!
The President as Commander in Chief, has a job, and that is to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, not placate a bunch of nationalists fucks like Cruz!!!

(Not that I think Kaepernick is spoiled).
Cruz said "... to honor the freedom that it stands for. That part IS right, and it includes the freedom to make a peaceful protest. But the irony is lost on Ted Cruz.

(12,336 posts)Because Kaepernick is a rich athlete, he shouldn' have a right to voice an opinion? Because if that's the case, a poor person who sees the same injustices should have every right to protest. Is that what cruz is saying? And wasn't President Obama standing up for America by stating that EVERYONE has a right to an opinion? Good lord that man (cruz) is dumb.

By the way, NFL player salaries are NOT guaranteed.
Too many pro athletes also end up being broke within 5+ years of their retirement, even after the huge contracts.
