Penn Station shooting: NYPD officers gun down suspect after alleged meat cleaver attack

Source: The Independent

New York police officers reportedly gunned down a man in Midtown Manhattan after he allegedly attacked an officer with a meat cleaver.

The incident took place outside Penn Station when officers returned fire, hitting the suspect multiple times.

NYPD was not immediately available to comment on details of the case, and did not confirm reports about the suspect's weapon.

ABC News cited a police source who said the suspect was transported to hospital in critical condition while two officers had non-life-threatening injuries. One was struck in the head with the weapon and another hit by glancing friendly fire.

Man With Meat Cleaver Attacks NYC Cops, Is Shot: Sources

A man with a cleaver attacked NYPD officers outside Penn Station, striking at least one of them before he was shot by police, law enforcement sources say.

The officers were attacked near the busy Midtown commuter hub at the height of the evening rush hour.

Two law enforcement officials identified the suspect as 32-year-old Akram Joudeh of Queens, who has 15 prior arrests, including one on Aug. 27 after he was found carrying knives near a synagogue.

The FBI is sending agents from the Joint Terrorism Task Force to the scene as a precaution, an official said.

and large cuts of other meats. If you can get soup bones, they're also good for bashing them open so you get maximum flavor.

I use a big Chinese cleaver for most jobs since I don't eat much red meat. I do have a meat cleaver for that once a year turkey soup.

A mallet and a meat cleaver can get into even the hardest of turban squashes and pumpkins much easier than even the best knife. Place the squash in its most stable position, place the cleaver on the opposite side, and tap with the mallet.

The blade is thinner and requires a little less aggression with my other piece of kitchen equipment, the rubber mallet.

Not like this, but we see it daily here, in those whose healthcare is laughable and available beds are a joke.

WTF does Reagan have to do with this case? We do not know the cause. It could be many things.

This guy was 5 years old when Reagan left office. How could he possibly have anything to do with this? It's like blaming the recent stuff with Iran on Carter. Not really relevant.
