‘When will he stop this ugliness?’: Clinton blasts Trump’s refusal to say Obama was born in U.S.

Source: The Washington Post

By Abby Phillip September 15 at 9:40 PM

Hillary Clinton denounced Donald Trump for his continued refusal to acknowledge that President Obama was born in the United States.

“He was asked one more time: ‘Where was President Obama born?’ And he still wouldn’t say Hawaii. He still wouldn’t say America,” Clinton said at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute gala dinner in Washington. “This man wants to be our next president? When will he stop this ugliness, this bigotry?” Clinton’s comments came as Trump refused to say that Obama was born in Hawaii during a new interview with The Washington Post’s Robert Costa, despite his campaign aides’ suggestion that he had abandoned his “birtherism.”

“I’ll answer that question at the right time,” Trump said. “I just don’t want to answer it yet.”

Clinton noted that Trump had launched a “racist” attack against an American judge of Mexican heritage, saying that he was not qualified to preside on a legal case involving Trump’s businesses because of his heritage.

he is holding a press conference to say something on this matter later today. We all know he has to make a big freakin deal out of everything that comes out of mouth. The release of his medical records on Dr Oz to name one and now he's going to have a media circus to say that Obama was born in the USA, and of course he will make it seem like he is reveling a YUUUUUGGGGEEEE secret/breaking news. His sense of self importance amazes me and makes me want to vomit

Does this really matter now?

Trump is an ass, we all know that.

This topic isn't worth discussing anymore, Hillary. You have an election to win. Move forward.

in order to fire up the Obama coalition, who have to be convinced to once more face MASSIVE hurdles that most whites won't face, to come out and stand in line for hours and hours in order to vote for the Democratic ticket.

We in the African American community have been under attack literary all of our lives. People hate us, lets face it. So he has to keep reminding people what is at stake. We can't let Trump in the White house period.

5. Doing the right thing ought to be easy. Trump is like a child.

My friend last week was saying she asked her 7 year old to clean the child's half bathroom as a chore.
Once completed, the child was free to do some fun activity they were wanting to do all week.

The child complained about it for literally hours rather than do it. Hours.

Cried, whined, stomped, etc.

I don't know if they ever did it on Saturday.

Sunday morning they brought the mom yogurt and toast as breakfast in bed - and wanted kudos for doing that.

Fine for a 7 year old child. Not for the guy running for President.

6. why does it matter where he is born

Obama has been the president for the past 8 years, so it doesn't even matter where he was born at this point.

So, why are they asking a redundant question that has no bearing on the current election?

I'm not defending Trump, but who cares at this point?

It is such an insult to our president, the people who voted for him, and the African American community. Trump lied and encouraged the extremists on the right, with no thought to the consequences or the hate he was fueling. This matters "bigly".

12. This is the Trump campaign's foundational lie
Fri Sep 16, 2016, 01:27 PM
Sep 2016

It is racist. It attempts to delegitimize the records of the State of Hawaii. It attempts to nullify the entire presidency of Obama. It alleges that the US Constitution was overturned. It foments violence. It explicitly tells a certain swath of American morons that they should avail themselves of their 2nd Amendment rights.

Trump, with his foundational lie, built his base. He doesn't even bother to dogwhistle -- he bellows. The KKK is back.

It matters.

14. Trump must apologize to President Obama

Trump used this lie for over 5 years to delegitimize and nullify President Obama's presidency. Even though nothing Trump can say at this point can erase the fact that he lead the charge on this conspiracy theory, he still needs to apologize and say that he was wrong.

He used delegitimizing the first African-American president to get votes from hordes of racists. Who cares? Millions of people care!

8. Why is timing required to acknowledge the simplest truth, and to acknowledge a major error?

He erred. A normal person running for President of the United States would, upon realizing an error, leap at the opportunity to correct it.

What can we conclude from this? He's obviously abnormal.

Largely what i have seen of us older folks is that we only change slightly to adapt our old habits to new things that pop up around us. It's not that we chose that way, it just biology. It's just going to be for the younger people to change it up and up end older folks who stand in the way of change.

Not to get this wrong, some or even a lot of us older folks would welcome change and help it move along. The thing is though it seems largely many of us don't have enough of the motor stuff to make it happen personally anymore.

11. You know what bothers me about this story?
Fri Sep 16, 2016, 12:08 PM
Sep 2016

The media can shut it all down every time it comes up, because it doesn't matter WHERE the president was born and it never did. His mother was a U.S. citizen, so even if Obama was born on Mars, he'd be a U.S. citizen. Trump and the other birthers would have never gotten any traction, if the media hadn't encouraged them. Unfortunately, if Trump opens his mouth, the MSM is right there to report on whatever he says, no matter how ludicrous. Pathetic.
