Trump birther event blasted as hotel 'infomercial'

Source: USA TODAY

It was billed as Donald Trump's "major statement" on the birther movement, but for the most part it seemed more an "infomercial" for his new Washington hotel, according to the assessment of many on Twitter, particularly reporters.

The GOP presidential nominee's dominant presence on cable news channels has been a widely discussed phenomenon since his campaign's launch, but rarely has it sparked such outrage as it did Friday — both at Trump and the media.

After the real estate mogul took the stage at the event held in the newly opened Trump International Hotel in Washington, Trump began with an acknowledgement of the venue.

"Nice hotel," he said to a few chuckles and applause, as news networks broadcast the event live and journalists awaited word on whether the GOP presidential nominee would renounce his previous claims that President Obama was not born in the United States.

Trump thought he could then take the photographers and videographers on a tour while leaving the reporters -- and even the producer -- behind.

Wrong. The press pool decided to destroy the tour video.

4. he's not a genius, he's a virus.

a virus has no brain, it just does what it does.

and what it does is successful, sometimes spectacularly and lethally so, because its host target has certain weaknesses that the virus exploits.

the virus doesn't know what it's doing, it just happens to meet with success.

in trump's case, of course, the only "success" he gets it media attention. he's a failure in every other respect.

and, at the end of the day, he may prove a failure even with the media.

eventually, the folks with actual brains usually figure out to conquer the virus.

Making outrageous statements so he gets free coverage wherever he goes. And they have been lapping it up.

And they're angry about it, too. I was watching CNN this morning (Sunday) and that was a large part of the discussion on "Reliable Sources." AND on MSNBC, too. About how they got punked (one of the guests actually put it that way). On CNN, the chyron at the bottom of the screen said Trump pulled a "bait and switch" on the press. That's how they wrote it. Even Sippy Cupp! They talked openly of how the press failed BIG-TIME on Trump coverage. NEVER asked a follow-up question. NEVER held his feet to the fire.

Even cute little "sexy librarian" CONservative S.E. Cupp was on this! I was stunned. Couldn't believe what I was hearing from someone like her - but she was spot-on about this. She made the point that the press did not follow up when the Washington Post and a few other media outlets had their press credentials yanked by the Trump campaign. She said, and rightly so, that the entire press corps should have reacted and refused to cover anything further. A "you attack one of us, you're attacking ALL of us" thing. STUNNING! They brought up how Jose Ramos was man-handled, humiliated in front of the entire press corps at that early news conference, like a year ago, when Trump ordered him forcibly removed. And nobody else said anything. Okay? Next it could be YOU, assholes!

My ever-brilliant and incisive husband this morning said this:

"First they came for Jose Ramos and Univision and the Washington Post, and I didn't say anything because I work for Fox.

Then they came for MSNBC and CNN and I didn't say anything because I work for Fox.

Then they came for ABC, CBS, and NBC, and I didn't say anything because I work for Fox.

But then they came for me, and there was nobody left to say anything."

I LOVE my guy!

Or will they still support the Grifter-in-Chief?

I don't feel bad for them at all. He and Breitbart staged this whole thing and got no less than 21 minutes to bash Hillary LIVE on TV.
I hope he does it to them again and again, until their audience tunes out.

FUCK YOU CORPORATE M$M! You reap what you sow.

They got their new reality TV election star, now they want a reality TV president. They will be hyping Trump all the way to the White House. Trump will guaranty huge profits for news entertainment networks for years to come.

They did the same darn thing when they swiftboated Kerry. They played that ad over and over and over for free and discussed it at length even though the whole thing was a lie.
