Nazi Who Originated Donald Trump Jr.’s Skittles Metaphor Was Hanged at Nuremberg

Source: The Intercept

DONALD TRUMP JR.’S tweet comparing Syrian refugees to Skittles has deep roots. The concept dates back at least to 1938 and a children’s book called Der Giftpilz, or The Toadstool, in which a mother explains to her son that it only takes one Jew to destroy an entire people.

The book’s author, Julius Streicher, also published a newspaper that Adolf Hitler loved to read, Der Stürmer. The newspaper published anti-Semitic, anti-Catholic, anti-Communist, and anti-capitalist propaganda. In 1933, soon after Hitler took power, Streicher used his newspaper to call for the extermination of the Jews.

German Propaganda Archive Hitler said: “One must never forget the services rendered by the Stürmer … Now that Jews are known for what they are, nobody any longer thinks that Streicher libelled them.”

Streicher was hanged at Nuremburg in 1946 for crimes against humanity. The judgment read:
"For his twenty-five years of speaking, writing, and preaching hatred of the Jews, Streicher was widely known as ” Jew-Baiter Number One.” In his speeches and articles, week after week, month after month, he infected the German mind with the virus of anti-Semitism. [sic] and incited the German people to active persecution. Each issue of Der Stürmer, which reached a circulation of 600,000 in 1935, was filled with such articles, often lewd and disgusting."

... that his mother and step-mother came from. Applying it to "selected" groups is straight-up bigotry in action. Deplorable and irredeemable.

Of course, that's when it could get interesting - when all of Trump's supporters respond with a collective, yeah, so? Then try to argue that this campaign is not about white supremacy.

Looks like Gleen Greenwald might be taking this reporter to the woodshed, after all, he has done so much to tear down Hillary and pump Trump.

The reality bubble that Der Stürmer created sucked in fearful Germans and gave them a sense of community and strength they had been missing for two decades. The uncomfortable fact that it was built on murder and unsustainable economic militarism was ignored; no one was in the mood for harsh truths, they'd had enough of that.

What they wanted was a dream. Hitler and his team sketched out an appealing, simple, 'folkish' dream that endured until the bubble's skin was punctured on the rocks of reality, and all that bloody murder flooded back in.

'Godwin's Law' is utterly tested by Donald Trump; he's practicing EXACTLY the same technique as Streicher, but it's uncomfortable for many 'civilized' journalists to say so.

Hitler didn’t employ a ghostwriter to write his manifesto.
Hitler served in the military.
Hitler exhibited discipline and focus, and stuck to his talking points at his rallies.
Hitler only had one European wife.
Hitler waited until after taking power to attack members of his own party.
Hitler never felt up his daughter in front of millions of people.
Hitler broke his alliance with the Russians.
Nuclear weapons weren’t available to destroy humanity until after Hitler was dead.
Hitler’s hair was much more low-maintenance.
Hitler never had the chance to appreciate David Duke’s enthusiastic endorsement.

So stop it with the Hitler comparisons!

Not so different.

They'd need a way stronger rope.

(Ah, get over it. No one in this country would Tom Dooley old Rush, so don't suggest that that's what I'm suggesting. I'm in enough trouble here today as it is, lol.)
