TALLAHASSEE Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi ended weeks of silence Tuesday and defended her acceptance of a $25,000 campaign contribution from Donald Trump while her office reviewed a consumer complaint about Trump University's real estate seminars.
At a press conference at the Capitol, Bondi said she had no regrets about taking Trump's money because her office had "no investigation" when she sought the contribution in August of 2013.
"I just knew there was nothing improper," Bondi said. "I will never let money from anyone affect what I do. I'm proud of my office. I'm proud of the work that we do."
.........................
Bondi has repeatedly ignored requests that she explain how her office handled the Trump controversy. She said Tuesday her only regret was not meeting with reporters earlier to discuss an array of Trump-related documents released by her office that lay out the Trump U. chronology.........................

More & and a rant from that story.
Tia Mitchell: The fallout from Trump's $25,000 donation to Bondi explained
http://staugustine.com/florida/2016-09-17/tia-mitchell-fallout-trumps-25000-donation-bondi-explained#
The Bondi-Trump issue is but a small incident of wrongdoing by two seemingly crooked political players. I'm shocked it was even reported in Florida.
Trump is a candidate running for the highest and most powerful office in the U.S. and the world; yet, he has been charged with rape. Trump has been charged with fraud (Trump University). He is being sued by former students and has charges pending by the Attorney General in NY. He has current and on-going lawsuits against the media and anyone who dares question him.
These actions and lawsuits are happening now, in real time. But very little media coverage is provided. Any one of these incidents would sink any other candidate running for president.
Can anyone imagine a candidate running for presidency with this kind of baggage and attitude? Seems the media would be all over this outrageous behavior and the candidate would be doomed by his own actions. That is not happening. Why?
Trump is getting a free ride by the media. That is the only plausible explanation for his candidacy. They gave him a free ride to the Republican nomination and they are giving him a free ride to the presidency. They refuse to hold him accountable for anything he says or does. He tells a lie, the media prints the lie and that is the story. Trump is pure gold to the TV media, he ups their ratings with his lies and rants. It is pure entertainment factor. His misconduct and lies are never questioned.
We are in serious trouble with the watchdog media asleep at the wheel; except when Hillary coughs, then they are on full alert. Do your jobs, you lazy bums.

Get this through your thick skull, sister. You're cleared when WE say you're cleared. Not one second before. THE ADULTS ARE IN CHARGE NOW.

(13,616 posts)Hillary's campaign needs to hammer the hell out of Florida. We have Rick Scott here, who stands to make a lot of money if his friend Trump wins. Scott is already talking of cutting early voting, because he wants to hand this state to DT on a platinum platter. If the campaign does not hit this soon, 2016 will make 2000 look like an amateur liquor store holdup.

It seems there's at least a few lines that Bondi crossed, no?

(5,479 posts)"If I had returned it, you would have reported 'Bondi accepted a bribe, got caught and returned it,'" Bondi said.
(As opposed to, for instance, "Bondi accepted a bribe and kept it until she got caught; then tried to return it but was reassured by the foundation that tRump had replaced the money that had been illegally used."? How's that working out for you?)
