Poll: Nearly half of voters think Trump will detonate a nuke
Source: The Hill
A majority of voters say Donald Trump would allow the U.S. to default on its debt and that he would misuse the power of the presidency to punish his political opponents.
And nearly half of voters 46 percent say Trump would use a nuclear weapon to attack ISIS or another foreign enemy.
Those are the findings of a new poll conducted by SurveyMonkey on behalf of the Lincoln Leadership Initiative, a new group helmed by prominent Republican critics of Trump who are advocating for the GOP to dump the nominee and return to its foundational values.
The poll also found that a majority of voters believe that as president, Trump would create a database to track Muslims and order military strikes against the families of terrorists.

(28,798 posts)listening to Washington Journal several weeks ago, a caller came on - voter for trump. he said - i mean almost with glee! - that trump would start WWIII, and it would last about 100 years. and this caller was perfectly happy with that scenario.
i am horrified by these people, but there's no denying they're out there. they are not ALL paid trolls.

(4,490 posts)I was one of them at one time. Not gleeful by any means, but a prophecy believer. Unlike just about everyone else at the church, I rarely voted Republican. I figured the coming final battle didn't mean we had to make bad decisions in the interim.

(51 posts)When people are enthusiastic about any war, worldwide or otherwise, they're divorced from reality. War is death. It's systematic, mass murder and massive destruction of property. The US hasn't had a war on its soil since the 1860s. Folks have no idea how a nation of relative prosperity can turn into rubble and ruin through a war on its soil. It happens fast, where Death is as commonplace as morning breakfast.

(28,798 posts)death and destruction, that's what war is. i can't fathom the mindset that would welcome such misery.

(25,111 posts)That's why religious fanatics are voting for t-rump because for them it's prophecy which plays into the hands of the "end days". For sane people, t-rump is unstable.

A distant relative, Grace Halsell, wrote 2 books about this. They are out of print, but still available from used book sellers.

(4,490 posts)Should he somehow beat the odds and become president, I would think we'd make a strong effort to remove his criminal ass. Hopefully convince enough conventional Republicans of the reality of an exisential threat and that a President Peance would be in their best interest.

I wouldn't trust Pence, either. Just might be worse!
Bradical79
(4,490 posts)Pence is more likely to understand that we can't nuke someone for fun because we will probably die. I don't think any Republican candidate has ever demonstrated Trump's inability to comprehend the problems of a nuclear strike.

The appeal of nukes for Donald reminds me of my childhood fascination with fire works.
It's just this psychopath is like nukes are the firecrackers OLIGARCHS like to play with.
Imagine a nuclear pissing match between Donald and Kim Jung?

(3,789 posts)Plus the story about trump asking why can't we use nukes if we have them, I've been watching mock nuclear war broadcasts. Here's one that's very realistic
