JetBlue pilot who had midair freak out found not guilty by Texas judge

Source: Faux Newz

Published July 03, 2012

The JetBlue pilot who forced a Las Vegas-bound flight to make an emergency landing following a mid-flight meltdown in March was found guilty by a Texas judge on Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge Mary Lou Robinson in Amarillo issued the ruling during a bench trial for Clayton F. Osbon, noting he suffered from a "severe mental disease or defect." Osbon's attorney, Dean Roper, declined to comment.

Clayton F. Osbon, 49, has been charged with interfering with a flight crew, which is defined as assaulting or intimidating the crew, interfering with its duties or diminishing its ability to operate the plane.

I posted this whack article to point out how horrible faux newz is at reporting. The title and the first paragraph are completely at odds, and you can't really figure out whether he was found guilty or not from reading the rest of it. I guess he was found not guilty by reason of insanity, but it's only a guess. Sheesh. Online editing is horrible these days.

That's one third of the necessary facts. Sounds about faux's speed.

Obviously he suffered some sort of medical/mental issue that was beyond his control. What was the point of charging him and having a trial? Waste of tax payers money as well as a huge expense for a guy that lost his career due to the incident. Talk about kicking someone when they are down!

We had a case around here that was upsetting. A man missed a new stop sign for the "bypass" road they had just opened. He ran through it and his car was struck by a truck killing two of his daughters. They charged him with manslaughter??????? He made a careless mistake, he is paying a very heavy price (the loss of his daughters) and now some asshat district attorney wants to charge him criminally. (no drugs or alcohol involved)

There are complaints about the overloaded court system yet they add to the burden with these silly charges........
