Donald Trump Tried to Fire Nancy O’Dell After She Rejected His Sexual Advances
Source: Daily Beast
Less than two years after a female journalist supposedly rebuffed Donald Trumps sexual advancesas heard on newly discovered videohe allegedly tried to have her fired from one of his beauty pageants.
On Friday, The Washington Post revealed video of the Republican presidential nominee bragging to Billy Bush about non-consensually groping women (a.k.a, sexual assault): When youre a star, they let you do ityou can do anything, Trump said in the unearthed 2005 Access Hollywood footage. Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.

That married woman (identified as Nancy by Trump) was subsequently identified by Access Hollywood as former host Nancy ODell during the shows Friday night episode.
...snip...
In 2007, TMZ reported that the real-estate mogul wanted to kick ODell to the curb as Miss USA host because he allegedly didnt like the way she looked while she was several months pregnant. (Trumps people did not deny the report at the time, and simply refused to comment.)

(3,063 posts)He exceeds my expectations. Trump is by far the absolute worst candidate the Republicans ever had. I could find a better candidate for them just radomly picking someone from the phonebook.

(1,245 posts)It's TERRIBLE how ALL the women in the movie are drawn as unnaturally curvy and are basically all sex objects (cept the badass grey-haired lady at the end ... she's just hot, not slutty), etc ... and that's JUST not right ...
But man ... to a 16 year old suburban dude, at the midnight movies, high as a kite with his buddies, rocking to the classic rock tunes, and the babes, and the trippy stories, and the Loch-Nar ... back in the 80's ... that was one GREAT movie Pretty much the whole thing ... though it dragged a bit at the end ... or maybe that was my buzz wearing off ...

It is 185 days from the start date to the end date, or 6 months, 4 days excluding the end date.
Donald J tRump talked like that while he knew his wife was three months pregnant.

(9,123 posts)I looked for pics of her (Nancy O'Dell) when I read this and she has that typical beauty pagent look. She often poses in short skirts, has long legs, shows lots of cleavage, and topped off by long blond hair. In other words she looks like a Barbi Doll.
When women choose to emulate Barbi in order to have a tv career, they are inevitably going to be treated like a play thing by some powerful and vulgar men. His flaunting may be his downfall.
Watching the backround of the tv series "Versailles" on Ovation. It appears that Trump thinks of himself as another Louis. A mini-God living in a golden palace. When I watched "Mad Men" over the past couple of weeks, I clocked the obnoxious behavior of so many men in the series around the women. And Draper married a "Barbi".
How many men here in DU want to be surrounded by dolls rather than 21st century women? How many of those guys are voting in this ekection

(49,002 posts)Any woman who chooses to look like a Barbie Doll can't be intelligent and feminist?
You judge books by covers only?
Yeah, you're getting backlash because of your illogical attitudes that also seem to be unenlightened.
But, ... you want to control how she would choose to look and dress.
With the ongoing World War, Lamarr was inspired to contribute to the war effort, designing a jam-proof radio guidance system for torpedoes. With the help of composer George Antheil, they drafted designs for a new frequency-hopping, spread-spectrum technology that they later patented.[17]
Lamarr and Antheil realized that radio-controlled torpedoes, which could be important in the naval war, could easily be jammed, thereby causing the torpedo to go off course.[18] With the knowledge she had gained about torpedoes from her first husband, and using a method similar to the way piano rolls work, they designed a frequency-hopping system that would continually change the radio signals sent to the torpedo.[19]
Their invention was granted a patent on 11 August 1942 (filed using her married name Hedy Kiesler Markey).[20] Yet, it was technologically difficult to implement, and the U.S. Navy was not receptive to considering inventions coming from outside the military at the time.[16] Only in 1962, at the time of the Cuban missile crisis, did an updated version of their design appear on Navy ships.
Perhaps your technical accomplishments exceed hers?
Your attitudes are those of men and their female collaborators who wish to control the sexuality of women. Women (and men) have every right to be sexually aware and active. But tRump has revealed himself to be a sociopathic predator who takes without permission.

(9,123 posts)From Alternet on the Trump phenom:
"I think its time to take a good look in the mirror: Is there any better symbol of whats gone wrong in mainstream American culture than a greedy, superficial, sociopathic megalomaniac reality TV star who makes constant displays of fragile and toxic masculinity? These are the qualities we, as a culture, too often celebrate and encourage. Money and fame are our core values. Success at any price. Cut-throat business practices. Bullshit your way to the top. Be a real man. Isnt that why it doesnt seem to matter what Trump says or does, or how many lies hes caught out on? Dont a lot of us kind of admire his sheer gall? Is that why we cant stop watching him?"

(18,868 posts)Women who want to get into TV journalism are forced to look like Barbie. It's the system that needs to be changed.
Women really need to demand that they be allowed to just look like themselves.

(4,187 posts)We need to change the system that makes women think the only way to get ahead is by looking like a Barbie doll. Setting up the system, and then blaming the woman for it, is misogynistic.

(1,245 posts)I mean ... why do ostensibly self-respecting women not simply 'choose other careers' if this is 'the way things are'? Nobody HAS to be a beauty pageant host, now do they? Not exactly a highly skilled, nor a seemingly particularly desirable occupation ... is it?
And I mean ... where does this 'line of thinking' ... stop?
Should we all DEMAND that our TV newscasters, Hollywood actors, etc, etc ... NOT be chosen based on (mainly) looks, just because some of us are uncomfortable with this notion?
What about salespeople? Everyone knows they're very often chosen based on looks ... and that it CAN make a difference in terms of your sales ... what your salespeople look like. So ... should we BAN this practice, too ... make it illegal to not hire a 57year old, 400lb slovenly ex-plumber to sit at the front desk at your Manhattan headquarters, because it's 'not fair'?
Should we MAKE Guess hire unattractive models?
Hopefully you see my point ... where does this end?
IMHO, it's up to THE PEOPLE who are considering such positions to consider whether their 'looks' ... and how much work they're willing to put in afa 'sustaining' them go ... make them suitable for the career. And whether or not they MIND being a 'piece of good-looking meat'. It's up to the person to decide ... that's part of what makes the Country great.

(9,123 posts)Media manipulation of the consumer is all pervasive. Until the 80's women could be on television without having been in "beauty pageants" or lookng like the "weather gals" on local channels across the country. "Eye Candy" is what is called. Thus is relatively new stuff that we can't avoid seeing. I used to enjoy watching pageants and trying to guess who would win. I've changed. I find them appalling now. A terrible promotion of Barbi Doll like appearance and demeaning to 95% of American women.
And have you seen the type of man who hangs around them and harrasses the contestants?

Ugh. This just keeps getting worse and worse. He can whine that Clinton did it too, but Clinton was never this aggressive and did take "no" for an answer and besides, "he did it too" is a defense that stopped working for most of us by the time we were five.
Katty Kay over at the BBC says it very well, "It's the way Mr Trump reveals that he sees women as a piece of sexual meat, something he wants, grabs, discards that is so damning."
Uh-huh, that's it all right. Well, this piece of meat has the vote and will be voting against this over entitled man child.
