Bob Dole stands by Trump
Source: The Hill
Bob Dole, the 1996 GOP presidential nominee, said he is sticking by Donald Trump.
Dole, a former senator from Kansas, told the Wall Street Journal he would be hard-pressed to back away from the partys nominee in the wake of Trumps lewd talk about women caught on tape.
I look at it a little differently, Dole said. Ive been a Republican forever. The party has been very good to me. Ive had many opportunities as a Republican, and I find it very difficult to desert the party after Trump won 40 percent of the vote in the primary.
Dole is now the only former GOP nominee who backs Trump Mitt Romney has been a steadfast critic of the billionaire, and John McCain rescinded his support Saturday. Both Bush 41 and Bush 43 have stayed silent on the 2016 race.
It was 11 years ago, Dole said of Trump's explicit comments. He shouldnt have said it, but theres nothing he can do about it except to do well in the debate. I think he can overcome a lot of this in the debate tomorrow night.

Truly sad and utterly legacy-destroying.
The man who once stood to Lee Atwater's smears of Democrats by proclaiming, "It's not politics, it's garbage!" is long gone.
And who gives a shit if it was a decade ago? It doesn't matter when it was said. Trump admitted to and bragged about getting away with sexual assault!

I sure don't want people like Mike Pence stepping in to be another Republican candidate. I think Mr. pence may fool enough of the voters to make it a closer race and to spread his culture conservative mantle over the country. too damn many people were taking in by his lies on Tuesday, not caring a bit that he did not tell the truth.

(2,322 posts)...as I can't think of any other way he could totally miss that Trump is still acting the same way now as he boasted he did 11 years ago. Every hour now there's a new video, or witness saying that Trump gropes, harasses and abuses women. He did it 11 years ago, and 5 years ago, and last year....
Dole seems to think Trump found religion or saw the light sometime between then and now and hasn't been calling women names or tweeting about sex tapes at 3am. Sad. And does he know Trump would make fun of him of this disabilities and Trump's followers would probably beat him up?

(20,818 posts)that fucking sexist song. I was a young child when it first came out and I grew up with that bullshit belief being shoved down my throat. Apparently Dole and other repubs shared that experience. Either that, or they're suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.
