TV Ratings: Early Numbers Show Significant Drop From First Presidential Debate
Source: MSN/Variety
Viewership of Sundays second presidential debate fell significantly in major markets from the turnout for Donald Trump and Hillary Clintons first meeting on Sept. 26.
In Nielsens overnight metered markets, Sundays 9-10:40 p.m. ET debate averaged a 37.2 household rating and 53 share. Thats down 19% from the 46.2/63 overnight rating for their first debate. That contest wound up setting a record for presidential debate viewership with 84 million viewers.
Nielsens 56 overnight metered markets reach about 70% of TV households in the U.S.
However Sundays overnight ratings exclude markets that were battered this weekend by Hurricane Matthew: Jacksonville and Orlando in Florida, Norfolk, Va., and Raleigh-Durham, N.C.

Well, a much smaller audience got to see Trump stalk Hillary Clinton, threaten to throw her in jail, and throw Pence under the bus by pleading to form a new evil alliance with Russia, Iran and Syria to complete the genocide in Aleppo.

(37,748 posts)The debate still outdrew SNF for audience share.
The debate combined for 29.77 million viewers and an 8.6 rating in adults 18-49, pending updates, on CBS, ABC and FOX. Univisions Spanish-language coverage added another 2.16 million viewers and a 1.1 in adults 18-49. Thats well ahead of the 15 million viewers and 5.2 (also pending updates) for SNF, which is currently down 0.9 in adults 18-49 vs. the prior week
