Independents and Women Bail on Trump, Giving Clinton a Double-Digit Lead

Source: The Atlantic

With less than a month to go until Election Day, Donald Trump’s standing has plummeted with likely voters, falling from a dead heat just two weeks ago to a double-digit deficit behind Hillary Clinton, according to a PRRI/The Atlantic poll released Tuesday.

Clinton holds a 49-38 lead over the Republican. Two weeks ago, a previous PRRI/Atlantic poll found Trump and Clinton tied at 43-43. Following the first presidential debate in Hempstead, New York, the Democrat broke out to a 47-41 lead. She has now built on that lead.

The shift toward Clinton is driven almost entirely by movement among independent voters. One week ago, Trump led Clinton 44-36 among independent voters. Those numbers have roughly flipped, with 44 percent backing Clinton now, and 33 percent supporting Trump.

Clinton also continues to lead Trump by hefty margins among women, with a 33-point gap separating the candidates. Just 28 percent of likely women voters intend to pull the lever for Trump, a five-point drop from one week ago, while 61 percent plan to vote for Clinton. The lewd video of Trump might lead to an even greater gap in the home stretch toward the election.

Even worse news for Trump, according to the article. The poll was taken Wednesday through Sunday, so it doesn't show the full impact of the tape that came out Friday.

And, according to this poll, Trump's support among white women without college degrees has collapsed. They'd been a major bloc of support for Trump

but the latest poll shows them giving as much support to Clinton as to Trump, 40% to 40%.

It may be better if it leads to them staying home, which would be better news for the rest of the Democrat ticket.

She shared a meme asking is there any woman out there that was still voting for Trump after "the video"? She and 7 of her friends all posted of course, and that Hillary was worse. I couldn't help myself, so commented that any woman who voted for him hated other women and themselves, an asked if they actually promoted and were ok with him being a rapist and that there was a 13 year old who was raped by him and suing him right now and another woman had also sued him for sexual assault 2 years after the video was made. I then unfriended her. It was funny, one of her friends responded before the unfriend took place, about, oh, you think Hillary is a saint? I had to laugh at the lame smack.

I don't care anymore. Women voting for Trump are stupid. Anyone voting for Trump is stupid. Trump is stupid.

a lifelong Republican in deep red Texas, a teacher and pillar of her church and community, has come out publicly on FB for Hillary. Not just anti Trump but FOR Hillary. She's taking a lot of heat, but is standing firm. She will not vote for the "groper" as she calls him.

doing this, but silently.

Unfortunately, again, some women are forced to be silent regarding their feelings about a man's bragging about sexual assault, because they will be ostracized by their community.

I also believe there are many Republican wives that are publicly saying "yes, Trump" agreeing with their husbands to prevent a family argument, but will secretly vote for Hillary on November 8.
