Trump inspires Muslim-American women to launch a PAC

Ghazala Khan, the mother of a fallen soldier whose family has clashed with Donald Trump, joined around 20 other Muslim women on Tuesday to launch a political action committee aimed at driving U.S. Muslims to vote.
Khan praised her fellow daughters and sisters" for creating the American Muslim Women Political Action Committee, saying they are so strong and will bring more people with us. Others at the event, meanwhile, had a seemingly odd message for Trump: Thanks for bringing us together.
The PAC is the latest example of growing political activism in Americas Muslim community a movement that's been given an adrenaline shot by Trump. The Republican presidential nominee called for a ban on Muslims entering the U.S., cast Syrian refugees as potential terrorists and suggested U.S. Muslims are failing to report potential extremists.
Khans presence Tuesday was especially poignant because she and her husband, Khizr Khan, have repeatedly stood up to Trump. They first did so during the Democratic National Convention and have again tangled with him since his debate on Sunday with Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, during which the Khans' son's death was again thrust into the spotlight.

(43,308 posts)He is using attacks, anger, fear, hatred. He is not able to rally the
GOP base because he trashed so much of their ideology over the past
year. He doesn't run on ideology so he can't engage the Democratic
platform. He doesn't run on policy because he doesn't have any, only
a tax cut for the rich. He's just flailing away attacking everyone and
everything that doesn't kowtow at this point.
So after my rant let me say the Khan's are organized, and very patriotic.
Just like so many Americans, they work, they live, they do their jobs.
They are as brave as their son for standing up for all of us.

(7,403 posts)It is a natural reaction to the venom spewed by Trump. Admire deeply the Khan family. They are strong, princilpled people. Backlash is hell.
