Trump’s ridiculous claim that he won ‘every poll’ on the second presidential debate

Source: Washington Post

“Despite winning the second debate in a landslide (every poll), it is hard to do well when Paul Ryan and others give zero support!”
— Donald Trump, tweet, Oct. 11

The Pinocchio Test

Trump claims “every poll” shows that he won the second debate. In reality, not a single quality poll shows he won the debate, though one indicated a near-tie. In review, the results are:

CNN: Clinton 57 percent; Trump 34 percent

YouGov: Clinton 47 percent; Trump 42 percent

Morning Consult-Politico: Clinton 42 percent; Trump 28 percent

NBC-SurveyMonkey: Clinton 44 percent; Trump 34 percent

So Trump earns Four Pinocchios — or as Clement puts it, Four Pollocchios.

He is the King of Bullshit Mountain. As the very-missed Jon Stewart might say. Trump lives in another plane of reality that he alone created. He really is delusional. Mentally sick in so many ways.

a quite a while, but I see that it has regressed into a doppleganger of the mainstream corporate media these days - mostly "Trump is really bad" material and nothing much else of substance. Everyone knows Trump is terrible, but the non-stop obsession with every little bad thing he does serves no real purpose. The people who like him aren't going to be swayed by it and it diverts attention from many of the other important issues. Anything on BLM, Dakota Access protests, the conflict in Syria? Not much here, just "Trump said this", "Trump said that".

The whole Bernie affair really changed this site and the new terms of use really narrowed the preferred visitors down to a very narrow portion of Democrats and the left in general. I had promised to stay away from this site until after a new president is elected, but I see that it's really not worth coming back here at all.

I wish that were true. Just 2-3 weeks ago, Hillary was ahead by less than a point in the polls. 538 had Hillary favored but approaching coin toss odds to win. Predictwise type betting sites had narrowed. Yes, the corporate mainstream media had plenty to do with that.

Today, it's about Hillary 43% +/- Trump 39% +/- or so. A lot of people are still supporting Trump. Pussy grabbing should have ended his chances and may yet do so but like so many prior remarks, it's not quite over.

I'd still take Bernie in a heartbeat over Hillary but Bernie is not on the ballot. Trump has proven himself to be by far, in my opinion, the more dangerous candidate. Whether you like it or not, this site is serving to drive a stake into the heart of Trump's campaign and keep it there. That's not a bad thing. I'm quite content to look the other way on rules or whatever until November and this sick man's hopes for the Oval Office are obliterated.

and it has always been like this at this time and it gets reflected in LBN and the General Discussion forums. The one thing to keep in mind however, is that since its founding, this site has added numerous "groups" where the type of discussion that you are seeking exists. There are many on DU who do not engage in the "political" side of DU but are actively discussing other topics. DU has generally required certain topics be discussed in those groups, where the hosts help to keep the threads on-topic to the group. I would recommend that you seek out those groups rather than abandon the site entirely.

I would like to see more positive threads about Hillary, her positions, and accomplishments. I would like to see more posts about what she is doing on the campaign trail.

The Bernie affair, as you call it, was chilling and detrimental to this site. The Hillary hate and the stalking of her supporters here has caused many to leave permanently. Revenue is down on this site. Fewer support it financially, and if people stay away, there are fewer clicks for ads.

I have been coming back a bit more. But the jury (another broken thing here) is out on whether or not I, and a few other Clinton supporters, will continue as members.

I am sure there are people on the right who are happy to see any kind of damage done to a Democratic site. Some of those people are still here, trolling.

It's only a website. There are other great places on the internet for information and discussion.

On-line polls with no click regulators that get bot-clicked to the max.

Trump lives in a fantasy world, where on-line polls matter and his rally crowds constitute overwhelming support on election day.
