As rumors swirl about Trump TV, Donald hosts his own debate coverage

Source: CNBC

There was a new broadcaster covering Wednesday night's debate: Donald J. Trump himself.

The Republican national candidate livestreamed his own debate coverage on his Facebook page. Commentary was provided by retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn and former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer. After the debate, several guests came to discuss Trump's performance, including former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Several pro-Trump ads and a clip from Ivanka Trump also ran during the broadcast, according to BuzzFeed.

The event had no official name, but some outlets pointed to a section called "#TrumpTV" on his official Facebook video page. However, #TrumpTV is populated with clips from other existing networks discussing the candidate.

...snip...

Rumors of a Trump network have been swirling. On Monday, the Financial Times reported that Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner had "informally" approached investment bank LionTree about starting a television network after the election. However, Variety said a source close to the situation said LionTree was not pursuing the opportunity, though the report did not rule out that Trump wanted to start his own media outlet.

Many of us keep saying this. He may be starting it as an internet/social media service initially while "someone" in his circle goes about applying for or buying some cable channel. Not unlike Current TV being bought by Al Jazeera America. And in Al Jazeera's case, now that it has shut down its cable presence, that channel's license should be available.

Fox News, of course, takes up a lot of space, and so does Rush Limbaugh, though I feel like he might have peaked and will be mercifully in decline from here on out. Then there are the fringier folks like Alex Jones and Roger Stone.

But as someone else pointed out, Palin TV lasted barely at all, and Glenn Beck's The Blaze is currently like a blazing dumpster fire. Trump has a lot of name recognition and obviously millions of ideologue fanatic supporters, so maybe he can take a run at Fox for some of that space? But now that he and Roger Ailes aren't talking any more, I don't know that he'll have the media acumen to really do it. Of course, it will be supremely enjoyable watching him fail!

No matter what we say about him as a person, he was a proven brand and businessman with money to keep it afloat in the first few years when it was a loss.
Trump has the same shady grifters he's dealt with in the past and it will flop like Palin and Beck.

And honestly about what I expected even with Ailes' help.

I give it 18 months on the outside before TrumpTV's shell company is declaring bankruptcy and screwing all of the workers out of their last paycheque.

...is that it is going to be difficult to find legitimate advertisers to fund the network. Maybe a costume company that makes KKK clothing or a flag manufacturer that makes rebel flags. No major company will want to be anywhere near this upcoming disaster.

Seen richer people go away for less. I hope he can be properly investigated and prosecuted after the elections.

Once there's no danger of him being president, the viewership for his stupidity goes down among all but his die-hards.
The only reason he draws rating now is because people are horrified and scared to death by the prospect of him in any form of power.
And, among conservatives, there will be a civil war to either stick by him or blame him for the catastrophe.
The audience will be limited as his support dwindles among those who might be in his camp now.

This will be another failure, alongside Trump Steaks, Trump Wine, Trump Mortgage, Trump University and so on.
