Trump seeks to keep groping claims out of Trump University suit

Source: Politico

A decade-old recording of Donald Trump making crude comments about women may already have done serious damage to his presidential campaign, but now Trump's lawyers are trying to make sure that and other revelations about his personal behavior don't doom his defense at a civil trial set to begin next month over alleged fraud in his Trump University real estate seminar program.

Trump's legal team is asking U.S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel to rule that lawyers and witnesses at the Trump University trial be prohibited from making any reference to "audio and video recordings made or publicized during the campaign" as well as "personal conduct accusations" leveled at Trump.

Trump's attorneys also want to bar discussion of allegations that Trump may have paid no federal income taxes for as long as two decades, his personal charitable foundation, bankruptcies of various companies he owned or managed, and a series of comments he made alleging that Curiel was irredeemably biased because of his Latino background.

Before trial begins in this case, prospective members of the jury will have the opportunity to cast their vote for President. It is in the ballot box where they are free to judge Mr. Trump based on all this and more. But it is in the jury box where they must judge him and this case only on evidence and argument relevant to the issues at hand," Trump lawyers Dan Petrocelli and David Kirman wrote in a motion filed late Thursday night.

Remember when the Rethugs kept trying to shove Paula Jones into any and every lawsuit against the Clintons they could?

This particular case is about one thing, and it is none of the things the defense wants to keep out of the trial.

Keep in mind, the ideal situation is for the prosecution to follow ALL the rules and for the jury to hang him out to dry.

As much as I hate him, all the other allegations really have nothing to do with the Trump University case.

Of course, all the sexual assaults should come in to the child rape case.

To avoid litigation on a grand scale. He figured that if he won, he'd be immune from any suits against him in civil court, and no possibility of indictment?

Trump's biggest problem right now is the list of Russian oligarchs whose money is in his collapsing empire. You DO NOT screw over people who have contract killers on speed dial, and Trump is about to.

BTW does anyone know where Trumpler got the money to do the Old Post Office job?

Repukes opened that door.

And, frankly, I have no problem with it, as long as it's not a witch hunt. Paula Jones sued with the full weight of the republican party machine behind her, and I wish Clinton had let her appeal go forth, instead of settling in order to make it go away. Today, repukes all claim that Jones "won" and the Clintons had to pay her.

of the people who passed their bar exam, qualifying to become lawyers, and are working for the Trump organization..

How can they sleep at night knowing the damage their client/bossman has done and will do into the future?

Who are these shadow people?
Have they no conscience?
A total lack of empathy?

The Boston Massacre was the 1770 confrontation in which British troops killed five civilians. The soldiers were not exactly the most popular people in town, and several lawyers, even those with Loyalist (anti-independence) leanings, refused to defend them at their trial. Adams believed in the principle that everyone -- even, as we might say today -- the deplorables -- had the right to counsel. He took the case. He later wrote:

The Part I took in Defence of Cptn. Preston and the Soldiers, procured me Anxiety, and Obloquy enough. It was, however, one of the most gallant, generous, manly and disinterested Actions of my whole Life, and one of the best Pieces of Service I ever rendered my Country.

Even My Cousin Vinny should be able to hang Trump out to dry for swindling grandmothers out of their retirement savings without bringing up groping, taxes, his fraudulent foundation, and all the other atrocities he's committed. There's plenty of time to try him for everything else he's done; let's just stick to the job at hand.

Limiting talking about the persons scammed finances. Lawrence O'Donnell had a larger list including campaign staff and others associated with it. It could be a good way to stop questioning of any employees from turd u. just by putting them on campaign staff.
