The Clinton Campaign Is Making A Play For Utah

Source: BuzzFeed

SALT LAKE CITY — Hillary Clinton is making an unprecedented play for the deep-red state of Utah in the final weeks of the presidential race, according to sources involved with the effort.

The Clinton campaign — which first opened a bare-bones office in Salt Lake City over the summer — will add five paid staffers to its operation here by early next week, according to a source in the state party. The campaign is also flying surrogates into Utah, and dipping into its war chest to fund advertising and organizing efforts in the state.

The campaign declined to discuss how much money it would invest in Utah, and two sources with knowledge of the strategy said the total sum would be much smaller than its spending in Arizona, another traditionally conservative state that Clinton is hoping to turn blue.

Still, the campaign believes it has a real shot in this unlikeliest of battleground states, said Marlon Marshall, Clinton’s director of state campaigns.

If everything falls into place.

1) Hold the normal Democratic base in Utah.
2) Hope for a big McMullen surge of conservatives away from Trump
2a) But not too much because then McMullen could actually win the state
3) Don't attack McMullen; only attack Trump

But maybe Indiana, Georgia or even Texas is winnable.

That said....I would love a win in Utah. It would be such a nice moment for long-suffering liberals out there.

However, she could definitely affect some down ballot races both now and in 2 years. I welcome any focus she can give to our state. Many of the Looneys here went all in for Trump once Cruz was shown to be a loser, they are vulnerable.

I can't think of anything else that would truly drive a stake into the heart of the GOP, than losing TX.

I really, REALLY want to see all the border states of CA, AZ, NM and TX in our column.

Let McMuffin have UT.

it would be nice for Hillary to win the state but I just want to see Trump lose it and voting for McMullin would do it

because of his blatant immorality.

If Cheeto, McMullen, and Johnson split the conservative vote she could win it. Utah is the highest polling state for McMullen so it could happen.
