Iowa is 1 vote in the senate from becoming Wisconsin. Branstad want to be Walker.

a reason Iowans call their governor brain dead. Between him, Grassley, and rep. Steve King they seemed determined to prove the word Iowa is actually an acronym.

They probably figure they will move to states that will cover them. Talk about class warfare

I wonder how many of these people without health coverage vote Republican against their own interests? How many even vote?

A friend of mine met a man in Tennessee who lived in a broken down trailer and had a bunch of teeth missing but he was determined to vote Republican.. he did not want a black man in the white house and was afraid of socialism!

It's all about hate and fear and this country is drowning in both..

who's going to suffer in all these states? I just hope ACA turns out well to prove these beastly and cruel repuke governors wrong. They are just mean spirited and really don't care about people and their well being. All based on a mean spirited ideology

1. Hospitals want medicaid to help offset the "free riders"
2. Insurance companies want the exchanges more government subsidized customers
Both of these are big GOP donors, therefore money talks with the GOP

Reminds me of when the food stamp program was first introduced, Bob Dole was dead set against it, then 24 hours later he was a proud supporter of the bill. What happened? Big AG called and told him to change his vote, food stamps more money for big AG.

I have my doubts. Hospital/insurance bottom line vs crushing 'undesirables' is a really tough call for the power mad GOP/Tea Party.

In thinking about the obstinate GOP behavior regarding implementing the ACA, this is what I predict: The states that refuse to implement the ACA will start losing population big time and their economies will slowly become just like banana republics. If the Republicans can't make the whole country go backwards, well by golly they will make it happen in individual states - that is something most midwestern states can ill afford, as they are already losing population, like Iowa, Indiana and Kansas. People with half a brain will move one way or the other if they can just cross state lines and get the health care we all deserve and a better life for their family. The GOP will get what it wants - a desolate landscape in states that continue with these shennanigans. We will end up with a dozen backwater states like Mississippi and West Virginia. It will be like the good old South all over again for them, at least until the demographic changes overwhelm even those little states that have GOP voting majorities now. The trend is irreversible IMO at this point and the GOP "base" is shrinking by the day and will only accelerate in about 10 years, as the old guard dies off.

Just look during the Great Depression, people just pile their belongings onto a car or truck and move one.
They would probable sleep in their cars for awhile but eventually they will find some lodging.

This is their method of testing what the populace will tolerate.

For wealthy right wingers, health care, like all the other benefits of society,
should be reserved to those who can afford to pay. Health care, in other
words, is a privilege, not a right.

This election and all its issues, is about the public good vs. private interests,
about rights vs. privileges, about tyranny for the many vs. freedom for the few.

All the Christians getting voting instructions from the pulpit haven't a clue the
rights they are voting away.

Maybe it will affect only Republicans & their families.

When people have insurance coverage then they can take advantage of using preventative care and that always saves money in the long run. By opting out these Governors are continuing to force the uninsured to use the emergency room after they have gotten sick. The hospitals in turn will continue to overcharge those that can pay for the difference.

This comes just as we learn that private insurance increases are expected to only go up 5% for 2013 and the smallest increase in decades. This is happening with only partial implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Now how stupid is it for these Governors to throw away these benefits before they are completely implemented. It is based on politics, plain ane simple since the merits would cause them to take a different route.
