Obama says he would support Trumps moves to improve US healthcare system

Source: Reuters

17 NOV 2016 AT 10:02 ET

President Barack Obama said on Thursday he would support any move by President-elect Donald Trump to improve healthcare for Americans.

“Trump says that he can improve the health system. I believe that if he is able to insure the same number of people – better than I am – I would support this,” Obama told German television station ARD, according to a translation into German.

During the U.S. presidential campaign, Trump called for the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, to be repealed and replaced and labeled the 2010 law “a disaster.” He has since said he is considering retaining parts of Obama’s healthcare law.

1. What Obama knows is that every Republican proposal to replace Obamacare...

...would not pass the test of insuring the same number of people.

If somehow Trump does propose a replacement to Obamacare that insures the same number of people (or more), then it's going to be opposed by every Republican in Congress.

2. If Trump has a plan that would improve US healthcare, I think most people would support it.

I don't think that is going to happen, but a lot of things have happened lately that I didn't think would happen.

6. his plan was to dump 2 million people off health insurance. he didn't think at all until Obama spoke

to him on the transition meet day. was supposed to be 15 minutes, and Obama spoke to him for over an hour.

I'm positive Obama told him exactly what will happen if Republicans tried to actually dump 2 million people off insurance. Hospitals are already screaming about millions of sick uninsured people flooding to area hospitals.

You know, just in case Trump somehow "won."

We all know Trump isn't actually a "Republican" and he can't actually do most of what he campaigned on, so... since "Obamacare" was the Republican healthcare plan all along, maybe he replaces it with the same thing, only with the fixes in it the Republicans would never give Obama. Better healthcare for less money. And it would finally be bipartisan under a "Republican" administration.

"Only Nixon could go to China."

Or...am I just looking for the psychotropic mushrooms on the cow patty of life?

4. Uh huh, the Republicans have had years to actually present a plan to "fix" any problems

with Obamacare and considering they have done zip other than repeatedly attempt to repeal it I believe it's safe to say they still don't have a plan and probably never will as all they care about is themselves and how they can use the government and their office to line their own pockets.

You know he's a total disaster and you know his health plan will be don't get sick or die. He'll put in unlimited medical accounts so the rich won't feel any pinch, but this does zero for the unemployed or those working in the no insurance service industry for peanuts.
Don't put lipstick on that ugly orange pig, you know he's going to trample and fuck over everyone who's not a 1%er

10. Trump on health care

: ObamaCare is one of the things you call a disaster.
TRUMP: A complete disaster, yes.
Q: Saying it needs to be repealed & replaced.
TRUMP: Correct.
Q: Now, 15 years ago, you called yourself a liberal on health care. You were for a single-payer system, a Canadian-style system. Why were you for that then and why aren't you for it now?
TRUMP: As far as single payer, it works in Canada. It could have worked in a different age. What I'd like to see is a private system without the artificial lines around every state. I have a big company with thousands of employees. And if I'm negotiating in BY or NJ or CA, I have like one bidder. Nobody can bid. You know why? Because the insurance companies are making a fortune because they have control of the politicians. They're making a fortune. Get rid of the artificial lines and you will have yourself great plans. And then we have to take care of the people that can't take care of themselves. And I will do that through a different system.

For some odd reason the U.S. feels the need to protect third party paper pushers.
