Democrat Harold Ford Jr. emerging as potential Trump pick

Former Democratic Rep. Harold Ford, Jr. is emerging as a possible contender for transportation secretary, or another Cabinet post, in Donald Trump’s budding administration.

The telegenic Ford — who served five terms in Congress representing Tennessee and is the son of a long-serving Democratic congressman from Memphis — has worked as a managing director at Morgan Stanley since 2011, and is a regular news analyst on MSNBC.

Ford endorsed Hillary Clinton in the 2016 race, and he and his wife, Emily, contributed to Clinton's campaign. But Ford is also close with Trump’s children, Don Jr., Ivanka, and son-in-law Jared Kushner, an associate said.

one and its way near the bottom for the varies cabinet level positions, now if he had nominated him for Treasury or Interior it would have a tiny bit more meaning, not much of course but some.

and controller of the transportation industry. Cutting or changing programs could have a major effect. Gutting pesky regulations could kill lots of people.

as a Democrat in the U. S. House of Representatives for decades. Harold Ford Jr. is a lifelong Democrat.

I lived in Tennessee during Junior's tenure.


That district is heavily Democratic. Junior, not so much.

His career in electoral politics ended when he lost the Senate race. Maybe he thinks he can be this year's Norm Mineta. Could be as simple and sad as the guy being flattered that anybody would consider hiring him.

crazy people, hangers on, loyalists... That's it. Anyone with any integrity or talent is not interested. I wouldn't be surprised to see him nominate the waiter who served his dinner for something. That's the level of competence we're at here.
