Schlitterbahn will permanently close, take down Verruckt water slide

Caleb Schwab, 10, the son of a Kansas state lawmaker, was killed on a trip down the slide in August. Two women who were in the raft with Caleb were injured.

The Texas-based theme park chain said in a statement that the water slide will be dismantled as soon as the investigation into Schwab’s death is complete. The company said it would build something in the water slide’s place, but it will announce that at a later date.

An attorney for the two women said the Schlitterbahn announcement was disgraceful and blind-sided them.

The attorney said he sent a letter to the water park chain Tuesday to see where things stood in the case, only to see the news on television.
