Trump picks South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley to be US ambassador to UN

Source: CNN

President-elect Donald Trump has picked South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley to be the US ambassador to the United Nations, according to a source familiar with the decision.

An official Trump transition announcement is expected later Wednesday. The Charleston Post and Courier newspaper was the first to report this story overnight.

Haley, who is the the daughter of Indian immigrants, has already carved out a legacy for herself, serving as her home state's first female and first minority governor.

While on the stump, Haley vocally disavowed Trump, appearing publicly on behalf of Marco Rubio and endorsing Sen. Ted Cruz after the Florida senator dropped out of the race.

be a step=down to go from a governor to a UN Ambassador. If she were unemployed would be a different matter.

In how she handled the Charleston church shootings and calling for the removal of the Confederate flag from the state house grounds.

14. It would have been nice if she had called for the removal of that flag in her previous term.

She was well into her second term as Governor, and had refused to remove that flag prior to the shooting. She was forced into it. Had those people not been massacred, it would still be flying. Don't be fooled by this woman. She is as phoney as a three dollar bill.

Maybe Herr Drumpf considers having a passport to be "international experience".

If you think of how trump sees things. We know he is most concerned about his own business interests . And he thinks they will like him more he chose one of theirs to serve in his administration.

But, I am willing to bet it's more of the same choosing people for idiotic reasons. It's like his choice of Ben Carson for the Housing and Urban Development position. He's black, therefore he must know about urban things, apparently. Haley has immigrant parents, so in his mentally ill brain, that means she has foreign policy experience. Oh, yeah, she's also "hot." As with Mitt Romney, she "has the right look." He thinks he's casting another damn game show. The appeal to Indian business people is just coincidental, IMHO.

I'm glad to see this corrupt POS leave the Statehouse, however. Not that I expect her replacement to be any better.

This is the pattern of neo-cons: don't appoint someone who is right for the job, appoint someone who is loyal. The bush administration did this constantly. Heckuvajob Brownie, Condi Rice, the Falwell University, or whatever, graduates that permeated his inner circle. We are about to see the most corrupt, incompetant regime ever to have this much power in our country. We'll be lucky to survive. I will fight this chump with every breath.

17. He's just doing this to get her out of office and replace her with one of his own.

Her replacement is a big-time Trump supporter. I didn't realize that at the time of my previous posts in this thread. This is on par with Arizona replacing Janet Napolitano with that nutjob, Gov. Bonefinger. The one potential good thing about this appointment is that Haley is in way over her head, and will likely fail miserably. Hopefully, it will open peoples' eyes up enough that they will take her name off the list of potential republican women as presidential candidates.
