Controversy over black marching band's decision to play Donald Trump's inauguration

Source: BBC

A marching band at a black college in Alabama has sparked debate after agreeing to perform at Donald Trump's inauguration.

The Marching Tornados from Talladega College have accepted an invitation to the event on 20 January, according to ceremony organisers.

That's despite other black schools refusing to take part.

Former members of the school say they're "horrified" by the decision.

Talledega College is a known as a historically black college (HBCU). These colleges were originally created to help black Americans.

Talladega? Seriously?

Interesting. Why, I wonder?

Like you see at halftime. It could move and march into the shape of a closed fist and then raise up the middle finger while playing "hit the road jack".

Now that'd be a show ~

HBCUs already fight for student enrollment. Wouldn't it seem that Talladega is shooting itself in the foot with this decision?

The Trumpers sure aren't going to be applying in droves... As a matter of fact, I predict less and less public funding for them. Many are hanging on by a thread, and without the support of alumni associations and funding from sources such as UNCF would fail tomorrow.

where's the understanding of 350 years of racism and conflict in this country to be continued, on steroids, with the upcoming tenure of the new fuhrer. BAD, BAD MOVE. Hope they rethink the decision to honor the Racist-in-chief. Fuck trumpfuhrer, he's just starting on HIS divide and conquer strategy. Bannon will serve this idiot disaster well.....alt-right my eye!!!!!!!! The media is culpable in not calling out this white supremacists history and intent in creating his white supremacist group. Dan Rather, Maddie Smith Colin clone, where the hell are you!?!?!?

The 1 blue spot right in the center is Birmingham... 2 counties to the right is Talledega. 1 county above B'ham is me in the reddest county of the state.
Even though it is a black school, there are a lot of black people going rep from the looks of it.
Jobs are great here, so it's not that. I'm really not sure, but I guess a lot of people are cutting their own throats lately.
