Full Headline: So much for draining the swamp: Pelosi blasts GOP for gutting Independent Office of Congressional Ethics
In a Monday night tweet, House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi slammed House Republican members for voting to eliminate the independent Office of Congressional Ethics and place it under the control of a GOP-led House committee.
CNN reports that House Republicans voted 119-74 Monday night to shift the watchdog committee tasked with keeping an eye on House members under the control of the GOP-controlled House Ethics Committee and barring it from reviewing any violation of criminal law by members of Congress.
Additionally, the House Ethics Committee could shut down any investigation.
On Twitter, Pelosi condemned the power grab, writing, Tmrw @HouseGOP will destroy the office that provides independent ethics process. So much for draining the swamp.

(58,785 posts)is being drained to eradicate. To most conservatives, they are engaged in a culture war against liberalism, and for many against secularism, not a war against corruption.
Kinda important to understand that liberalism has been defined in the minds of millions of our fellow citizens as a great evil that must be defeated. Before this, they were mostly just trained as an attack dog to stop the opposing party, but a very dangerous ideology is now being solidified that we see in this election.
Most do not realize where their extremist leaders are taking them, of course. Keep SS and Medicare, lose requirement to bake cakes for gay marriages. Not quite...
Not to imply that they've dropped the pretense of being against corruption. Some are even sincere. It's just that WE are a far, far larger problem.
A little smile from Breitbart.

(612 posts)I agree completely.
We're being portrayed as the "commies" of years gone by, with all our socialist rhetoric. We're dangerous to the American way of life, you know...

Hope you enjoyed Breitbart's story of a Koch brother being booted off Trump's golf course joke. I guffawed when I ran across it, suspect the writer was chuckling over it too.

(22,670 posts)Ain't gonna be no JAWBS for y'all after all, ha-ha! You've been hoodwinked in another election, just like the one before it and the one before that and so on and so on and so on.
But the GOP is expecting your support in 2018, so don't lose hope and whatever you do, don't start to think about who's really hurting you.

(8,699 posts)That committee did little and had little actual power. This is little more than pissing in our faces because they can.

It's not like they are going to check ethics anyway.
