Legislation to allow Congress to repeal in a single vote any rule finalized in the last 60 legislative days of the Obama administration sailed through the House Wednesday, the second time in less than two months.
The GOP-backed Midnight Rule Relief Act, which passed the previous Congress in November, was approved largely along party lines by a vote of 238-184 on the second day of the new Congress, despite Democratic opposition.
If passed by the Senate and signed by President-elect Donald Trump, the legislation would amend the Congressional Review Act to allow lawmakers to bundle together multiple rules and overturn them en masse with a joint resolution of disapproval.

(34,845 posts)Not about this bill itself, which is garbage and probably won't go anywhere. I'm worried about the long-term effect this kind of petulant, anti-government behavior is having on the minds and attitudes of those in Congress who come up with this nonsense.
It's been years now since the GOP did anything truly useful. Their knee-jerk, whiny attitude toward doing their jobs has got to be having a detrimental effect on them. Which means frustration will begin boiling over into egregious behavior that makes this 'Midnight Rule Relief Act' look merely laughable.
Think about it. They control all three branches of government and they STILL can't get anything accomplished. The way is clear for them to do away with the ACA and they STILL won't be able to do so.
After so long a time, what becomes of their ability to think rationally?
