Real-time Romney ad shocks Schieffer
Source: politico.com
<snip>
"Whatever happened to hope and change?" the spot showed Schieffer saying in footage from the program.
Schieffer opened a later segment saying he was "shocked" by the ad and distancing himself from it.
"That was a question that I posed to David Axelrod -- not a statement," he said. "I have no affiliation with the Romney campaign. This was done without our permission."

(3,581 posts)but I've been wondering how the Secretary of State feels about being sampled, out of context, in the attack ad from a few days ago.

(839 posts)in the first place and cant stomach watching it anymore. Schieffer is a sycophant plain and simple - he favors the Republican mantra whenever possible. Shame on CBS - this is the legacy of Walter Cronkite???

(54,414 posts)Re-broadcasting something already openly broadcast over the airwaves is one thing.
Using for private gain is another, and that little © after each broadcast means you can't do it without express written permission, which CBS would never have given for this purpose.
The FEC will probably close its eyes to this infraction (don't they always in cases of Republican criminal activity?), but they shouldn't.

(19,458 posts)..don't think that you can use copyrighted material in an ad like that. And the show has copyrights from here to Timbuktu. Schieffer is right to be pissed. He should demand it being removed... Or Obama could run an and with the FULL conversation in it.

(19,240 posts)he did everything for McCain but get down on his knees and service him at the debate. For him to object to being linked to Romney is yet another sign that Big Oil would rather wait until 2016 and go with Brother Jeb.
So, why do the Kochs keep pouring money into Romney? Seems to confirm my suspicion that they are desperate and don't think their finances can wait for four more years.

(26,626 posts)where Charlie Rose played part of an interview with the Obamas. When the ad came on, I thought it was Schieffer announcing for his show up next, which I don't watch because it's pathetic and whimpy and a disgrace to the memory of Tim Russert. Nice of Schieffer to react negatively, but when you lie down with dogs......... sorry, dogs, it's just a saying, I know you have much higher standards than the GOP.
