I don't think this is turning the other cheek. I think it's a rerun of the Vatican's relationship with Germany in the 30's & 40's when they looked at Hitler and his atrocious acts. The Vatican said, in effect, "Not my cheek" and took no position.

Wait and see is his version of not my problem. Just wait for trump to make some comment that leaves open even the slightest possibility that churches lose their tax breaks and we'll hear the Vatican screaming from the dome of St. Peter's.

Wait and see. As if Trump just fell off the turnip truck with no history of bigotry, misogyny, racism, deceit, etc, etc, etc... What is The Pope waiting to see ? Maybe a turn to pro-choice? Maybe a twit-slip about women in the priesthood? Or will he wait for the camps to open?

It's happening in other countries too--this populist leader thing.

Our President is a lying, vulgar, racist, sexist, conceited, emotionally unstable con artist who conned enough people to get into office. Francis knows this but wants to appear fair. It won't take long for all to see that he's going to be the same in office as he has been out, or worse.

I'm going to try not to be as obsessed about it as I have lately. We have to rely on the entities that have some power to deter him: Congress, the Courts, Intelligence community, the media. And then, of course, he has one more enemy: reality.

I know exactly what he and the EVIL Republicans will do.

He and the Evil Republicans have made it abundantly clear what they stand for.

They are the greatest threat this country faces !!!

They destroy everything they touch !!!

They do not govern, because they are intentionally trying to destroy the government !!!

They only win elections by lying, cheating, and conning uninformed and misinformed people !!!!

Hope this pope learned from history but the reichkonkordat type symbolic like like could come over a unified R vs W taken down or gay rights removal. Let's hope not
