Trump Already Distancing Himself from Press Secretary

Source: Political Wire

January 22, 2017 By Taegan Goddard

The New York Times reports that White House press secretary Sean Spicer’s first appearance yesterday “went too far,” according to “the people familiar with Mr. Trump’s thinking.”

Weekly Standard: “Rule #1 for press relations is that you can obfuscate, you can misrepresent, you can shade the truth to a ridiculous degree, or play dumb and pretend not to know things you absolutely do know. But you can’t peddle affirmative, provable falsehoods. And it’s not because there’s some code of honor among press secretaries, but because once you’re a proven liar in public, you can’t adequately serve your principal. Every principal needs a spokesman who has the ability, in a crunch, to tell the press something important and know that they’ll be believed 100 percent, without reservation.”

what I'm thinking may save us from too much Trumpian damage. Chaos reigns, as it surely will, and they can't get their way clear to actually accomplish much. Unfortunately, I doubt Congress will have the same problem. Although, considering Trump's ability to create churn, he may just manage to hobble them too.

Trump would be watching. But it didn't play well, so Trump will probably throw Spicer under the bus and claim he (Spicer) shouldn't have said those things. Loyalty is a one-way street in Trump's universe.

It might slow down the depredation until we can throw enough people out of office to make a difference (it will help if Republican PTB find they can't control that idiot and decide to impeach him).

However, anybody who agrees to work with Trump has to know what they are getting themselves in for. I'm sure the entrenched republican hierarchy is already meeting and making plans on how to proceed post trump. These guys aren't idiots, even if you don't like their politics, and they must realize Trump is a dangerous loser. As soon as it becomes clear he is too much a liability they will join the Dump Trump bandwagon. But not before they use him to achieve as much as they can of their own agenda. I've expected Trump to bump heads with the main stream republicans right away; I guess we'll see how long his handlers can keep him from disaster.

Does anyone really think that McCain, et al, have just forgotten everything that this guy said?

They are patiently biding their time. Like Queeg said, they're going to get as much of their agenda through as possible.

Then, there's going to be 100 things to impeach him on. Hell, you could probably use Emoulments already. But the wind of public opinion has to be stronger, and there has to be more to gain by ditching him... then lose by ditching him.

These are politicians, for Chrissake. They've got their finger in the air all the time. If things get dicey they'll protest mildly. But once it gets too fierce, they'll think to themselves... "hey, only 15% of America supports Trump, and Pence can take over, let's throw the guy overboard!!!"

That brings me to The Big Question: Do they put country and people ahead of making even more money as part of the military-industrial-Congressional complex? Really, this is how we need to frame their decisions in Congress.
