(5,256 posts)He was really talented. And so young. RIP.
That's two young, very good MLB pitchers just starting their careers killed in accidents in the last four months or so.

(5,256 posts)Sorry to reply to my own post, but I just learned that former big leaguer Andy Marte was also killed in a separate car accident, completely unrelated, in the Dominican today. RIP to Andy. I remember him well, as he was briefly with the Red Sox (my favorite team).
In my previous post I was referring to Miami star pitcher Jose Fernandez, who died in a boating accident off of Miami Beach almost four months ago.
Sad news all the way around.

Lots of games of chicken...flashing headlights to say I am coming into the incoming traffic - deal with it!

(23,272 posts)....that's shaken us so much.
I don't go to Royals' games much (have neither time nor money to spare for it), but I certainly followed their World Series runs, and was totally AWE-struck at Ventura's pitching prowess. He was amazing. Had his problems with control (his pitching AND his temper), but when he was on, He. Was. ON!!

(10,500 posts)I remember him devoting Game 3 of the World Series to Oscar and coming up with the biggest performance of his career.
I enjoyed the 2014-2015 Royals and I always liked Yordano Ventura.
