GOP senators: Give states the option of keeping ObamaCare

Source: The Hill

Two Republican senators on Monday unveiled the outlines of an ObamaCare replacement plan that they hope would be able to attract some Democratic support.

The plan, from Sens. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine), contains less drastic changes than some Republican proposals. It envisions keeping many of ObamaCare’s taxes in place in order to provide revenue for the replacement plan and gives states the choice of whether they want to keep ObamaCare.

Under the plan, known as the Patient Freedom Act, state legislatures would have the choice of whether to keep ObamaCare operating in their states, complete with its subsidies, mandates and protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

Other states, the senators say, could opt into an alternative plan that would provide a uniform tax credit linked to a health savings account to help people afford a basic, less comprehensive health insurance plan.

When Bush tried to solve the healthcare crisis with a tax credit someone crunched to numbers and found that a single mother of two children working at a 10$ per hour job would get a $20 a month tax credit that she had to parley into healthcare for herself and her two kids. It still means that the poor need to die a whole lot quicker than they are.

And this would be subject to State Legislatures signing on to increasing Medicare for those who were unemployable.

So we are to expect Red State Blue State Health Care, thought this was what the Rethugs were gunning for. Talk about a major population and Business shift that will take place.

Health care that's not really there

GOP watered down nonsense, trying to repeal it while they keep it.

This is a policy proposal? This is a trial balloon, a new experiment to
see how it would work.

if they had any principles, they would have said let everyone have MEDICARE ( its cheaper and better) .

This first step into giving the "states" the means to make a decisions on this, is only a back door, to have states compete against each other offering BS health care, with high deductibles.

Health Savings Accounts are another BS system, these f***ing fascists republicans always roll out something that sounds like your going to get a "tax break", nothing is for free:

https://www.medicareinteractive.org/get-answers/types-of-medicare-advantage-plans-hmos-ppos-and-more/health-savings-accounts-hsas-and-medicare/health-savings-accounts-hsas-and-medicare

"In order to qualify for an HSA, you must be a part of a high deductible health plan (HDHP). An HDHP is health insurance coverage that does not cover members until they meet their costly deductible. This means that HDHP members must pay in full for the first few thousand dollars of yearly health care services. After HDHP members meet this deductible, all costs are covered by their plan. HDHPs are either offered by employers or purchased by individuals. "

This is nothing more than smoke and more fascists republican mirrors

The high deductable plan is the smoke to keep premiums lower since payouts would be offset by deductables. Works well as long as you don't need it. And without knowing what that deductable amount is (who know 1,200 +) would for the most part really only cover routine perscriptions/doctor visits.

The HSA's is the gift that insurance companies would love. That'll be a pool of money attached to individuals that would be investable with profits going to them instead of back into the fund.

Other than that, I haven't read anything in this proposal that is new. It does included pre-existing conditions and the 26 year old provisions already in the law. What does seem new is that states can only receive 95% of their costs if they chose to keep the ACA or continue state exchanges.

Tell them it avoids socialized medicine because different entities will pay for different things, or some such nonsense.

Let them make up some shit. They're good at that. None of the Trumpers will ever be the wiser.

Everyone wins and Trump looks like a hero. Yay, Trump.
