(26,467 posts)of the child, and would rather see the kid grow up in a loving family away from poverty, violence, drugs, or whatever... out of the three kids i know, one later found his biological mother, who didn't want anything to do with him, one guy, his mother passed away young, and the third guy never found her.
Anecdotal evidence, i know.

(10,500 posts)To be fair, you could say that about a lot of lawmakers. But Klobachar wants to build the system up. I think it needs to be torn down.

(10,500 posts)A lot of women are in dire financial circumstances and forced to accept a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Many others are coerced.

(10,500 posts)Today they may be less but I think they are still way too high.
Too many women are in dire circumstances and forced to accept a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Others are told by their churches that adoption is an opportunity for forgiveness and redemption. Many more are persuaded that their kids are better off without them.
Finally, many women and girls change their minds after he baby is born, but are told that they "cannot break the adoptive parents hearts." They are deliberately made to feel like they are already the birth mother before the child is born. They are addressed as a birth mother before the papers are signed. And the prospective adoptive parents are called adoptive parents before the adoption had happened. Finally, they are asked to sign papers when hormones are racing and they are often under the influence of drugs, like painkillers, after birth.
I think adoption should only happen when the woman or girl does not want to parent. And the anecdotal evidence I have seen indicates that this fairly rare.

Not one Republican expressed concern for her or wished her well.
