Jerry Brown: California is not turning back. Not now, not ever
Source: Sacramento Bee
Gov. Jerry Brown, plunging into position as a Democratic bulwark against Donald Trumps presidency, warned Tuesday of looming battles with Republican-controlled Washington, using his State of the State address to assuage fears that California would turn its back on progressive policies.
Brown reiterated promises to protect undocumented immigrants, provide health care to the needy and continue his signature fight against climate change. Yet he pledged to work with Washington on infrastructure improvements to, as Trump said, build and build big.
I say Amen to that, man! Brown told a joint session of the Legislature, drawing bipartisan applause. Amen to that, brother! Were there with you.

(43,249 posts)i have mixed feelings about the infrastructure spending, it was
more needed 8 years ago, we have done some during that time, but
it is good that Democrats engage Trump on this issue and drag him
back to reality.

It is also a state with a very high diversity, a very low crime rate, an example of what America as a whole could and should be. If we stood for good government, equality, democracy, freedom, and all those other good things many other less successful states think only come from building walls and keeping women and minorities in their place.
