GOP Committee Members Take First Vote To Protect Trumps Conflicts of Interest

Source: Huffington Post

WASHINGTON ― Republicans on the House Oversight Committee unanimously voted against an amendment offered by Democrats to the committee’s rules to prohibit the committee from approving any legislation that could directly benefit President Donald Trump and the many businesses he owns.
...
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the ranking Democrat on the committee, offered the amendment to “remove the question” of whether any committee actions could be construed as benefiting the president’s bottom line. Trump resigned from management positions at his companies, but did not divest his ownership stake. He will financially benefit from any profits his companies make while he occupies the White House.

Nixon offered no incentives to anyone to let him off the hook. Trump has a more mercenary approach. Someone is a threat? Buy him off and go on to the next deal. No Republican is left who will refuse money. The days of Gerry Ford and Charlie Gooddell are long gone.

why there are things like private equity companies and overseas shell companies to hide stuff from the public and my bet is that alot if not all of the Republican in Congress are betting on crashing the country into a new Great Depression and then buying up tons of real estate such as peoples houses that are forced into foreclosure and companies that go bankrupt on the cheap.

I expect that the Founders didn't think we would become so flagrantly amoral that the most basic ethical principles would need to be included in the Constitution. They probably assumed that lying, greedy bastards would be voted out.
