Texarkana radio station bans Madonna songs after Women's March speech

Source: KVUE

TEXARKANA, Tx. (KTHV) - It looks like one radio station in Texarkana has had enough of Madonna and her music.

HITS 105 posted on their Facebook page that they are removing all of Madonna's music from their station indefinitely in response to statements she made during a speech at the Women's March. Madonna made headlines after she said she's thought an "awful lot of blowing up the White House, but I know that this won't change anything."

The radio station said they decided to remove her music after that comment as well as the various "F-bombs" she dropped during her speech.

"Banning all Madonna songs at HITS 105 is not a matter of politics, it's a matter of patriotism," said Terry Thomas, General Manager of the radio station. "It just feels wrong to us to be playing Madonna songs and paying her royalties when the artist has shown un-American sentiments."

Sound awfully similar to radio stations banning the Dixie Chicks because "uh... patriotism" in 2003, now who was right to be ashamed of their President again?

Maybe these radio people should study their own actions, but of course they won't, their golden-haired demigod will only lead them to fame and fortune, right? Right?

"As of 2015, Dixie Chicks have won 13 Grammy Awards, including five in 2007 for Taking the Long Way—which received the Grammy Award for Album of the Year—and "Not Ready to Make Nice", a single from that album. By December 2015, with 30.5 million certified albums sold,[2] and sales of 27.5 million albums in the U.S. alone, they had become the top selling all-female band and biggest-selling country group in the U.S. during the Nielsen SoundScan era (1991–present)."

Kinda like boycotting Hamilton when they are sold out.

Did they ban Darth Cheney when he told Sen Leahey to go f himself in the Senate?

Is anyone as foul mouthed as Ted Nugent?

So, unless they announce that they are banning Madonna every 15 minutes, no one would probably notice.

among many other very successful acts over the years) Madonna is worth hundreds of millions of dollars (probably close to a billion). This impotent nonsense may flatter their listeners but it will obviously have ZERO effect on Madonna.

AM/ FM that covers about 2 counties, with some bleed over. I'm not sure how on earth they make ends meet competing against satellite and internet streaming, much less the bigger stations in Asheville and Charlotte. Local ads I guess. Still, a dying business.

Main signal is 4.3kw Class A, (KTTY), the AM is 740 khz KCMC (AM Daytimer 2.4kw day, 11 watts night), and 250 watt translator K288FI (as a lot of AM stations are being "revived" by receiving a license for a FM translator station). Part of small cluster of stations in a small market owned by a (relatively) small media company. The kind we usually champion against the likes of iheartmedia, Entercom, et al.
